Have you ever noticed there's no such thing as relationship support for men in mainstream society? I see all kinds of articles directed at women like "How to [something something] in your relationship," but nothing for men.

Basically, if you were an alien from another planet, or a woman, you would pretty much conclude that men in this world have it all figured out, right? After all, if women are the only ones who need support and advice on relationships and meeting people, then it must come really easy to men.

And if you're a man who doesn't find it so easy, you're basically all alone. There's just not much support for you out there. People seem to think, if you can't do it completely on your own, you deserve to fail. Real men don't need help, that seems to be the general view of it.

And so, if you are feeling lonely, and helpless, or frustrated, maybe even a little bitter, there's only one course of action available: you must HIDE IT!!! It's a secret you must guard with your life! Because if anybody finds out, you will be eaten alive, either in the real world, or on a forum like this on the internet. I mean, witness the cannibalism on these very boards! Imagine what would happen if a man looked for this kind of support in real life!

I don't have any ideas to fix this problem, except maybe admitting it's a problem in the first place. That might be a start. Other than that I have no idea.

That is very true, in most mainstream society there is very little support for men, its always been a real man can figure things out, if he can't, then he's a wuss.

However there are some places out there, though very, very few. Askmen.com is a good place for men to go to for advice on romance, fashion, cars, how to be a gentleman and what to do and not to do on dates.

Ask men has a little bit of a PUA feel to it though.

Depending on where you go yes it does. But for fashion, cars, watches its not. But then again those topics are not related to the OP.

Sometime they do offer relationship advice, like how to act on a date, or what to do if you still have feelings for the ex and what not.

But when it comes to a support network for break ups, loveshack has been the best so far. THere is another site that can help, but its mostly for sex related problems, though they do offer some relationship advice, its called sexinfo101.com

While te majority of the site is sex related, they do have a relationship area.

But still, overall loveshack is the best in my opinion.

I would say that you have a great point. The author, a board-certified psychiatrist, discusses in depth what you mentioned here.

Perhaps you'd like to check out Men's Health Magazine:

Men's Health's dating advice is typically horrible. Don't go to them for advice.

Yeah, I don't know much about this "PUA" culture everybody's always talking about on here, but based on what little I do know, I don't think I want to know any more. For all I know it's harmless, just guys coping the best way they know how, with varying degrees of success, but I don't think it's for me.

I will check out these links, thanks.

I'm not the PUA kind of guy either, I like relationships. I mostly use askmen for fashion advice, how to gain confidance, manners, what not.
