WaveShifter Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Well, I feel really juvenile saying I have a crush. But truth be told, I'm 29, 4 months out of a long term relationship, and feel I am ready to start dating again. Before anyone says office romance is a bad idea, let me state that it's in retail and we work in completely different departments across the store from each other- our paths rarely ever cross so if anything didn't work out it wouldn't effect us. It's a new store, hasn't even opened yet and for the last few weeks we have been doing setup. So, technically, we are all new to each other. There is a guy I have taken notice of, I can tell he is a hard worker, and he's very upbeat and happy, a real joy to be around. The other day he was walking through my department, turned his head and just gave me this huge smile, made my heart melt =) But I can't pretend I am special, that's just the kind of person he is, he's always smiling. I feel like a teenager, I just kinda tilted my head and smiled lost in his gaze, then turned my eyes to my coworker hoping she didn't notice how obvious it was lol. So, since we rarely cross paths, I'm trying to think of a way to flirt with him, and I really need some ideas. I know, stupid question, but I just don't really know how to approach men. I don't want to seem desperate or overbearing. Truth be told, I don't know if this guy even knows my name. So, would it be weird/creepy for me to say "Hey XXXX" if I see him in the break room. Would he think it's weird I know him by name if he doesn't necessarily know mine? Aside from that, I know I can smile and let my eyes linger to show interest, but would that be enough for him to notice I am interested? I know these are really small gestures, but like I said, it's rare for our paths to cross and it would be hard to strike up general conversation at this point. Perhaps when the store opens I will have more of an opportunity. But as it stands our breaks are on different times, I only get to see him in passing or when we are all gathering in the break room before the day starts. So, would smiling and stating a person by name start to get their attention? Any suggestions? I haven't had a crush like this since I was in high school, I feel like a damn kid asking this, please be kind!
