I've known this guy (who we'll call bob for the time being) for about 6 years, since high school.(we're both 23 now) During that time we basically never talked to each other until the end of last year when i was dating his roommate at the time. Since then he's become more talkative with me, and what seems like flirty behavior when i see him on the weekends. I could just be imagining things here, but for awhile he was coming up to me and saying hi. Then, he's been offering me rides home a few times and doing the whole teasing thing and poking me in the arm and if i punch him in the arm playfully he acts like it really hurt,etc... Then, he remembers things i've mentioned and brings them back up in conversation. Or he'll ask me questions that i know one of his other friends could just as easily tell him. Then, he's given me compliments on my purse or whatever. So anyway, i started emailing him with just a random topic to get him talking or asking him questions i could easily find the answer to on my own, and he asked if i'd like to come over sometime and watch (insert random tv show here). Which is great, but the plans are just out there floating in space with no definite time or day attached to them. It seems when the two of us are alone together we're both kind of shy and awkward and don't really know what to say, but when our friends are around there is no off button. Or it seems like some days he's super flirty and other days he barely talks to me. I'm horrible at flirting, the only time i do it is when i don't like a guy and, even then i don't realize i'm doing it unless someone tells me. How can i show him signs i'm interested besides what i'm already doing so he doesn't think i only like him as a friend and give up if he does indeed like me? And based on what i've said here does it seem like "Bob" is at all interested? Or am i just imagining things and he's just being friendly? Thanks!

Try looking at him when there is actually no reason to do so, then if he looks back, smile. That should bring across the message. That. Or just plain tell him.

I could see that if they we're best friends and had known each other for years. But, from what i've seen i think it's just the kind of friendship where you hang out and talk on occasion. Of course i could be wrong here. You're right though, we'll see.
