P&R Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 My girlfriend has two best friends. One moved to Southern California 4 years ago and they don't see each other very often(we live in the pacific north west). They still keep in touch with each other and have a great relationship. My girlfriend is going to visit her for 2 days at the end of April, and her birthday is in the middle of May. What I want to do is pay for a ticket for her best friend to come up for her birthday. I won't be able to do anything else for her... I will be out of cash if I decide to fly her best friend up. Does this sound like a good idea? I won't have anything else to give her, and I wouldn't be able to take her out.
tigressA Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 That sounds like a really sweet gift, but also redundant because your GF is already going to see her for a couple of days at the end of this month. Since they have plans to see each other already, think of something else to do for her birthday--something that won't make you go broke.
Kinder-Horror Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Maybe you should talk to the friend and see if she will split the ticket with you - or help pitch in, and then you 3 (and others) could all go to dinner or something for her birthday (or bottle service at a club, or something else) with the other part of the cash you have that would have originally all gone to the ticket. That way at least you can do something once her friend arrives.

I should also ask her friend in Southern California(never talked to her). I think this would make my girlfriend happy, but it does sound a little redundant. Any other opinions?
