a digital camera, a facebook account, a twitter account, or a phone than can text?

Now it seems as if from the posts I have read I need all of these things in this newest era in absurdity.

Are there any other things I'll need? Would it be better to organize all my new toys with a fanny pack or a utility belt?

No digital camera or twitter account. But will admit I have a camera on my cell phone.

Don't need all of the above to date, but will probably limit the dating pool for you.

In regards to cellphones I out grew walkie talkies as a kid but I guess everyone else went in the opposite direction. I might still have my gijoe walkie talkie somewhere.

I have all of those, except I've made all of 2 tweets ever when I first got it. I don't get that service, but yeah, everything else is mandatory...and not just for dating, but for life!!!

Ha! I laughed so hard when I read this. Guilty. I have ALL of the above. I don't use Twitter or the camera much, but I overcompensate with the others.

And seriously, no digital camera? Do they even make film anymore?? And if so, why?? ;):D

Hilarious post. I don't have Twitter and have Facebook, but forgot the password. It's funny how all these toys are supposed to make connecting with people easier, yet based on the threads on this forum, they seem to only complicate things.

It's so true BeginAgain. When I was doing online dating, it was absurd how much communications technology I needed:

Dating site with its email and IM.

Google chat

MSN messenger

Yahoo IM

AIM

Text messaging on cell phone

Gah, it was horrible because nobody would pick up the frickin telephone and make a call.

When my current boyfriend called me to set up a first date, I was totally shocked that there was anybody left who used the telephone.

I am so sick of IM. Never want to go back to that again.

I will always and forever vote for the utility belt.

I like IM and texting, but I've never liked talking on the phone very much. Dunno why. I still use my old-school film camera though. I even have a Polaroid!

Nope, nope, nope, and nope.

No digital camera, I have a phone that texts, I have a facebook account (I actually was on that thing when it was almost entirely text based and you were allowed one photo) and I sort of use my twitter account. That's mostly to stay up to date on my interests.. I don't have a bunch of people looking for what I have to say :D

To be honest, Facebook has never let me down through connecting and what not. Plus it's extremely easy to set an event instead of having to touch base with everyone. I like that aspect, haha.

I have a lot of friends out of town, so Facebook is good for that. Also, for hearing from my favorite bands and what they're up to. ^.^

I have a cell phone, but most of the time it's taken away (still in high school) from my parents.

I have a digital camera, I go to concerts so it's used mostly for that, and also for stuff like dances, graduations, etc. I mean duhhh.

No twitter, that's stupid.

How exactly would a twitter account help the dating process?

I have all three besides twitter. However, I do use twitter for my company's account. I don't how see how I will utilize a camera during the dating process. What, am I suppose to do, document things?

Facebook, guy's am dating don't usually get added. Istant messenger?, that is what a phone is for - call me or text me.

You want to add GPS to your list and you can wear it in a purse you dangle around your neck.

Yeah. I totally agree. The day before Valentine's Day, I was down because it meant another Valentine's Day alone. One of my friends posted a photo of some chili she made, and it looked really good. I started thinking, "I want to eat some of that chili, some of so-and-so's jalapeno cornbread, try some of the cowboy stew so-and-so posted, and I'll share my pumpkin pie." And the next thought was, "Well why not?!" I posted, "Hey, who wants to start a dinner club?" and had 10 people sign up. 6 made it to the first one, and one brought a guy I had met before, who ended up joining with his wife. I could easily end up with 30+ people in my home, half of them complete strangers, all dining and having the best conversation, and it only costs me a little food. And in the end, expands my real life social circle just a little bit more. Facebook is awesome for that kind of thing. I don't have to mail invitations and ask, "I'm having a dinner party, would you like to come?" because it's so much more informal than that.

For dating purposes- Facebook sucks.

Haha! That's freaking awesome that it played out that way. But yea, once that line is crossed into romance.. facebook can stink.

I don't have Twitter. I have a phone with texting capability, but I blocked it because I dislike it. It also made things easier with dating because guys were forced to call me instead of text. Though we both have IM, my BF and I hardly ever used it--we always talked on the phone and I really liked that.

And ya know what... It wasn't on Valentine's Day, but I got to spend it with 6 people I love. It was beautiful.

No Twitter, but everything else. I wouldn't add someone to my FB though unless I considered myself to be seriously dating them.

My stbx told me his GF's first name... I discovered everything else about her through FB. ;)

yes, a digitial HD TV

I don't really date anymore but, back when I was dating, about the only thing I had was a laptop (early Powerbook) and an Olympus digital camera. Cell phones existed but were kind of clunky and expensive. If one had been cruising American Singles (now part of Spark) back in 1996-97, one might have stumbled across this early pure digital picture from that very expensive camera. Still have it. I don't facebook, twitter or text.

I don't own a film camera either.

I still only have a crt sd tv. I watch the videos on youtube sometimes just to see what life in the year 2011 is like. Many times I come away with the impression "What is all of this stuff? Why do they need all of this techno gadgetry? I thought normal people mostly owned crt's still. Is this a far flung future or lifestyles of the rich and famous? Why is there all of this space? Is this a mansion or a TARDIS? Iggy how long have I been gone? Just because I live in the hudson valley I never expected to become Rip Van Winkle."

You gotta figure, I live in a hipster town, I'm the child of two computer programmers/gadget geeks, and I once told a guy he was "soooo anachronistic" because he watched movies on an actual disk, instead of streaming it. ;)

So that being said, it's okay... Take my hand, I'll walk you through all these new fangled gadgets. Like this one for instance, we call it a "car". They've replaced horse and buggies. :D

Carhill, you're a cutie! Get back out there and date!

You could just get a pager, like they used in the 80's, lol.. and text upside down numbers to say helllo... but that's as far as your "texting" will go, lol...

Society and evolution has moved on, looks like you stayed behind.
