quietGuy13 Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 I have some spine problem that suddenly started give me symptoms since last December. It's aweful SO i can't do these things anymore: NO boxing unless slowmotion No Pushups. NO fast movement with chest No strenous lifitng weights even 20 pound weights make ribs hurt. I was told by doctor to go to PT but how can that help me? My spine will still keep crooked and my ribs keep popping out. I don't see how PT can help. I'm asking this cause if i go to physical therapy , first it's expensive and 2) Even thought they provide financial assistance for poor people, we have to show a lot of proof that we're poor and it's a hassle. I ihave't gone yet cause i ihaven't had time to make copies of the documents they want and then they want proof of rent or some bill but the bills where i live are not paid by me so that means I may not qualitfy for assistance cause i can't prove it.
tman666 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 PT can help you identify biomechanical problems and help show you how to fix it. Yes, it's expensive, but well worth it if you want to get better. The body is sort of (not really, but bare with me) like a car: if something is messed up, usually leaving it unfixed over time will cause it to get worse. I understand not wanting to drop a bunch of money on it, but if you go to a good PT they'll teach you what you need to do OUTSIDE of your PT sessions to correct the problem. It's more of an educational thing than anything else. Self diagnosis and correction can work sometimes, but other times you'll just be chasing your tail. I've been there, so I feel where you're coming from.
