I know that personality is important in attraction but looks are clearly important as you wouldn't date someone who looked repulsive. So given that I'm 22 and never had a gf (or even come close) would you even consider dating me or am I so repulsive that personality doesn't even come in to it?

Personality is key. But honestly, if you're going to perceive yourself so negatively, then why should a girl look at you positively? No one wants to date a pessimist.

I say... make an online dating profile and write about things you like to do. Get a haircut, then post photos of you doing cool things or with some friends (self-taken shots are a no-no in my book). When it looks like you lead a very interesting life, a girl might be intruiged and perhaps want to become a part of your interesting life.

Good luck! :D

Hey pal. Never, ever say anything to a female in real life as what you posted.

I can promise you not one female read this post (before or after viewing) and immediately thought. That is so hot, I must...learn...more. It is sooooo attractive.

"Am I the kind of guy you might go out with"? Ever heard that one? Same concept. Never say anything to that effect.

Considering this is a forum I am not going to bust your balls too much. Although, keep up that attitude and you will find yourself missing them.

This is spot on. Although I will add that the OP may need to talk to a therapist or someone else to work through some of these self esteem issues. There's a reason he feels down on himself, which none of us are likely to be able to help him figure out. His looks are not what's holding him back, his self esteem is.

You've got what it takes. Nice blue eyes, kissable lips. You look sad in this picture, but I'm hoping that's only because you were torturing yourself about this question while taking it. I don't know about other girls, but I'm definitely drawn to men who have handsome smiles.

Seriously, you're good looking. Yes, if I were your age and our personalities meshed, I would date you.

Would you really date someone who is seemably self-loathing? Who wants to be someone with no self esteem?

lol. No jokes you look almost exactly like my brother. He didn't get a gf until he was 23 (but she is much hotter than I expected) but from what I can gather it was almost entirely a matter of attitude. I remember at his 21st I overheard some drunk chicks talking about how cute he was and someone teasing him about a girl that liked him but he had no confidence with women and generally clammed up around them if they paid him too much attention.

I think some people might find this comment irresponsible but BEER is your best friend. Drinking with mates helps you loosen up, have fun and pay less attention to girls. 3 things that are great for encouraging girls to pay more attention to YOU.

No I wouldn't date someone with self-loathing and low self-esteem. His question was whether or not his physical appearance was holding him back. It isn't. I like his physical appearance. I would (and have) date(d) guys who look like him.

OP, whenever someone posts their pic on an internet forum for others to judge, it screams serious self-esteem issues. You don't need to even look at the photo to know the real issue at hand. I am not sure how you look but I am sure your looks are not your biggest problem.

Do some things that will help you to feel good about yourself. If you don't work out, do it. Lift weights, do some cardio and spice up your wardrobe. The first step is taking your photo down.

Please get haircut.

Please. You would be so much hotter with a nice haircut :)

From just that pic would I date you? No.

But one picture does not a person make :p

I like the hair!!! So thick. Wanna play with it.

(Sorry OP, don't mean to objectify you :p)

You know, I don't know where you live but you totally have a hipster thing going for you. Do you, by any chance, live in a city with a big hipster scene?

My first opinion is you look gay. Sorry but that's what I thought. It's not your hair. I love long hair. I'd have to agree if you're going to have long hair and a baby face you need something manly about you. Get some adult clothes and some self confidence. You are JUST starting your life. You haven't gotten to the 'good' part yet. It just starts picking up around 30. You're at an age you are going to find out who you are. Good luck!

Doesn't matter. You could be the hottest guy ever, but with that attitude, you attract no one.

I do have insanely thick hair!

I don't even know what a hipster is (maybe because I'm british). Also I'm a massive geek.

I was the same way. Until more recently I never dated much or even had many female friends. I have the whole nerdy look as well, glasses really didn't help either, but it is almost all personality.

After actually making a change to how I see myself and how I act around women I've gone on a few dates, not many mind you but considering I went from nothing to 1-2(not literally, I'm averaging it out over the past couple of months, a few a week, then nothing etc.) a month it's a drastic improvement.

I didn't look at the photo you posted for two reasons. For one, I suspect that you do not have breasts. Number two is basically what TuffCookie pointed out.

Fair enough. A social chav that has kissed a person of their own gender.

Of course, the post is humorous, but yes, all the hipsters I know tend to be quite open-minded about sexual orientations. It doesn't mean, however, that they all kissed a person of their own gender.

Mostly, they're trendy people who are active in the arts, music or film industry - or, who, minimally, like to spend a lot of time working on creative writing while hanging in cafes.

Your looks are fine, you're cute- but never discount the importance of a personality in dating.

Confidence is key, and it can make an average person much MORE attractive.

I'd find you attractive if I was your age and I saw you out and about.

You are visually an attractive person but you could benefit from a stylist (ie cool friend) to help you build on your natural quirky geekness and find a look that you can make your own.

Spend time with the sort of people you want to be more like - outgoing, musical whatever....

Looks are not your problem at all....

If you cut your hair, you would look a whole lot like my best friend's ex who all the girls were crazy over. But he also had great confidence in himself and had a great personality. Work on those two things and you could easily find yourself some lady friends.

Posted

I like arty quirky geeky guys so I'm cool with your hair and your glasses, I think you're kinda cute. You look maybe a little more emo than I'm attracted to though, but that's more facial expression than anything. Seriously, why do you look so sad?

Posted

Yea, just as other people asked, why do u look so sad? I would consider dating you if you had a smile on your face. Honestly, I find confident, masculine men the most attractive.

Posted

If you really want an honest opinion (which I would do if posted my picture and asked people to judge it), your face does kinda look feminine, your jaw looks very narrow. But then again that could just be down to the camera angle.

I think the glasses don't really suit you and that you'd look a lot better with a differen't style, or, even better, contact lenses.

I think short hair is a much better look, but I'm not sure if it would suit you.

Your looks don't look so bad that they'd stop you from getting a bird though. You're not terribly ugly or anything.

Posted

That isn't a great quality photo, your face does look a little narrow and feminine because of the camera angle. It probably isn't like that in real life. You facal features and everything are just fine though. Maybe you could smarten up a little and get a haircut, and as others have said you need to be more confident and smile. But you are cute and you have nice eyes, I'd date you if I wasn't too old!
