My ex and I broke up last April. I don't even know why, and he doesn't either. He just tried to forget about me, "dated" five girls, and I tried the same, only not in the same whore-ish way he did. XD

The longest I went without speaking to him was three months, then, until recently, two months. Last summer he kept playing games, coming back to me to "see how I was doing", calling me several days in a row.

Finally, I accepted the fact that it was over. That was about three months ago. I got over all the girls, the games he (and I) played, the jealousy with other people, etc. We live an hour apart, we're both juniors in high school.

I'm still friends with some of his friends, but I only talk to one more than twice a week. I'm in choir and we had a regional contest a couple hours away, and I asked that friend of his, "Are you going?" (cause I thought I was into him) He told me no. Two days before regionals he e-mailed me and said, "(my ex) wants to talk to you saturday". The next day he sent, "he sent you emails on myspace." I had blocked him on facebook. :p

On saturday we hung out, talked and it felt like old times with him, except the being Together part. We went somewhere to talk, cause he said those words, "I need to talk to you". His ex was there, well two of them were :/, and he said to both, "I still have feelings for her". The first words he said to me, in the serious conversation, was I'm sorry. Then he said, "I'm still in love with you."

I don't remember what I said, but he said my name, then when I looked in his eyes, I finally admitted to myself that I still loved him. He leaned in and we kissed...it was so amazing. I couldn't believe it was happening. I believe it was a good thing we broke up, last April, and I've changed for the better. I'm not sure if he has, but I want to give him that chance. I realized I loved him when I didn't want to not be around him. I love him so much, I've never felt this way about any other person. I keep thinking that after a year and us both being in love with the other still, it's a sign. I hope.

Is this the right thing to do?

(I've also posted this in long distance relationships and breaking up-second chances.)

It sounds like you both are really young, school age maybe. How old are you guys.

Um lots of people date in high school. Duh? And it wasn't a date, it was a school thing that both our schools went to.

If you did not know why you broke up with each other, the both of you probably missed a few things the other guys / girls did not match, but that is probably it. Especially if you were each other's first, it is not unlikely that that is the reason you are still 'in love' with each other. Add in some sex, and well ...

I don't think it will work.

Just have fun an enjoy it. You two are still young, you don't know what you want yet; that requires a lot of understanding of yourself. Plus your world views, opinions, life, and everything will go through changes as you get older, and those changes will most likely affect the type of person that would be a match for you romantically.

So just have fun. Don't get STD, don't get knocked up, don't run with the wrong crowd and get into drugs or something, don't let romance affect your school work, and you're good.

Yeah, you point out that there was a ton of jealousy and all of that garbage going on with this relationship in the past. I think that a lot of young people confuse drama for love. Because no matter what you claim, with jealousy, fights and arguments going on, it's anything but 'boring.' You don't even know why you ultimately broke up, and now you're getting back together. If you can't figure out the reason in the first place, then you're doomed to repeat it - whether it was because you got bored with each other or something else.

Frankly, there's a lot of immaturity here. Some of that is to be expected given that you guys are probably only 16 or 17. The last thing I'd ever want is for my boyfriend or crush to involve some of his ex-girlfriends in professing his love for me. Maybe this guy's not a cheater, but he does sound immature and uncertain of himself if he's medicating heartbreak by going from girl to girl.

Have fun in this relationship and don't take it too seriously. You're still very young and you have many things yet ahead of you to accomplish. I had too many friends who married directly out of high school (then divorced...remarried...sometimes divorced again) or got pregnant while they were IN high school.

I'm a substitute teacher and I've had far too many young girls in my classes who are pregnant or visiting their children at the school nursery during their lunch period - if you plan to have sex, please use at least two forms of birth control. Depending on the state in which you live, you can probably buy condoms and spermicide without any age restrictions:

You should be using at least two forms of birth control every time you have sex - I'd advise one of those be either birth control or condoms. Planned Parenthood is a great resource for young women also - since you're in school (and this is also true when you start college), you would probably get all of your exams and birth control for free. You can pick it up directly in the clinic and your privacy is guaranteed. I've been there before and loved it. They also sell spermicide, condoms, emergency contraception, etc. for cheap ($5 - $30 usually).

Have fun and be safe.

I've been with two guys, and neither of them was him, so I'm not even sure about having sex with him. D: I'm too scared, because I care about him more than anyone else.

As for the fighting stuff, we've NEVER had a fight, I swear to God. I've never been in a fight with a guy...EVER. Lately, I've been speaking my mind about some things, some habits he's picked up, or irritating things his friends say: he'd get mad at what his friend is saying about me, then blow it off and I think it's disrespectful. But we've never fought, though I'm sure it will come up soon. I told him not to expect sex either.

My friends keep saying he'll hurt me again, but I've been hurt so many times, I won't even care anymore, at least I'd know he's not right for me, right? :)

yes, I'm on birth control and have condoms with me all the time. He IS fifty miles away, so that's good. ;)

Lastly, the whole serious thing... He won't stop saying sweet things like "I'm going to marry you one day. You say no now, but you will marry me." The thing is, it's hard for me to look forward to this SUMMER, cause I'm still not used to him! :p
