I need to set better emotional boundaries for myself.

I tend to be an open book. Love sharing with females. I need to scale back, be less accessible and "more mysterious." Also, it's about protecting my own heart as well.

I'm learning one's emotional intimacy with an opposite sex friend should not exceed the level of friendship.

Any thoughts?

Yeah man. I think we shouldn't share TOO much.

But why do you think it's hard to share with people of your gender? Anyhow, sharing too much of anything with ANY gender is not wise...

I'm a guy and I get along well with many different folks from different walks of life, however, I do connect better with females than males. The main reason is I love to talk about relational topics and "feelings," which is not exactly what guys enjoy talking about. I'm not a huge sport or car or fixer upper guy, so it's hard for me to talk on those topics, which most guys tend to do.

I know what you mean. Men are generally less versed in discussing feelings and relationships. If you can learn to appreciate conversation for its own sake, you'll find it easier to enjoy all manner of company, male and female. The tone, intonation, turn of phrase, plays on words, different view points, accents and such like make language fascinating and are often the basis of good friendships. Once established, you may well find a lot of men have something to offer when it comes to the more delicate issues of relationships, self, philosophy, feelings, and it's enjoyable to hear different viewpoints on what that crazy old thing called life is all about.
