Just being friendly is pretty hard work for me, but crossing the line into flirting is almost impossible. The few times I've done it, I've felt a deep sense of shame well up inside me. I think somewhere along the line I picked up the idea that it was shameful and wrong to flirt with women. So I'm wracked with guilt and self-loathing every time I try. And I'm too old to learn how.
