Knittress Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I'm 5'8" which is tallish but not towering, and I perfectly love my height. I do sometimes wonder if I'd have more male admirers if I were 'short and cute' or feel sad that there are so many hot male shorties that are too small for me.
Darren Taylor Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I have a female friend that's 5'9" and she wishes she was shorter. She told me it seems as if guys like short girls and hate tall ones. To the average guy, a 5'9" woman is very tall. It may not be tall to me(I'm 6'2"), but to the average guy it is. Clothes shopping is something else. I don't know how clothing and sizes are made for women, but I'm a thin guy and I know if I was two inches shorter or 20 pounds heavier, clothes shopping would be much easier.
zengirl Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I don't want to be tall. I'm just sort of 5'6'' and plenty tall enough for me. I'd actually dislike being TOO tall, as I imagine it's harder to find clothes and such.
somedude81 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) If you're a short Man you have reason to be insecure,a short Man is like a fat or obese women in the dating world Would you stop saying stuff like that. I have no idea what your problem with short men is but it's annoying to read stuff like that. I'm 5'8" which is tallish but not towering, and I perfectly love my height. I do sometimes wonder if I'd have more male admirers if I were 'short and cute' or feel sad that there are so many hot male shorties that are too small for me. So what is too short for you? And why would you even feel sad? Edited April 4, 2011 by somedude81
Author Hopeful30 Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 Actually (and I know you're joking ) it seems that the taller women tend to care less about potential mates' height than more petite women. Just from my personal observations both IRL and on this forum. That's usually because we don't have a choice. If we are picky about height (man has to be taller) than we would remain single most of our lives.

AD1980 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Or is it that most women are relatively satisfied to happy about their heights? Which would make sense since women arent judged by their height or lack of nearly as much as Men
threebyfate Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Which would make sense since women arent judged by their height or lack of nearly as much as MenWill you stop fixating? You're not even short.
AD1980 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Will you stop fixating? You're not even short. Not fixating just saying and 5'8 is short
anne1707 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I'm 5ft and love it. It has never been an issue to me and I have dated men from 5' 3" to 6' 5".
threebyfate Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Not fixating just saying and 5'8 is shortNo, it's not. 5'6" and below, is short for a man unless you're interested in dating women equal to or taller than you. And even then, from the taller women who've posted, they don't give a crap either.
Author Hopeful30 Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 Which would make sense since women arent judged by their height or lack of nearly as much as Men Are you kidding? Women aren't judged by height unless they are really tall. When I wear heels i'm over 6 feet and thats all I hear from any man that approaches me. And women always ask why I wear heels if i'm tall anyways. Tall women get LOTS of criticism for their height if they are tall, because the majority of women are short.
Irishlove Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I'm 5'9" and over 6" and I tower over alot of men. I love my height and towering over chicks. I do like bigger men and they do make me feel safe and protected because being a tall woman I can pretty much handle my own. I don't want to be hugging on a skinny man. Just my opinion. I def feel odd hanging out with short girls and my big boobs are in her face. hahaha Poor girls.
Eternal Sunshine Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I am 5'8" - 5'9" and love it. My legs are long and I like wearing short skirts. Also, it doesn't show much when I gain a few pounds I wouldn't want to be taller or shorter....there seem to be quite a few men that actually like tall women...

I think some Men are apprehesive about approaching tall women not because theyre arent attracted to them but because they always hear that most women want a guy thats taller if not allot taller then them
Wolf18 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I've actually heard this from a female I know who is 5'7 (which is kind of tall for a girl already) recently. I doubt tall women (well unless they're like 6 ft tall) have that much trouble dating because I've heard it a bunch of times. There for sure are no men out there who wish to be shorter.
Irishlove Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Yea I have to say I love my long tan legs with the heels. It drives the men crazyyyyyyyyyy
Wolf18 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I'm 5'2" when I'm REALLY STRETCHING to get that. I can't say I LIKE being short, but I like who I am so I don't see how being taller would change that. I work with Teens and they like to rest their elbows on my shoulder - once, then they learn that I do not appreciate it and stop. I have to hem my pants, that kinda sucks, but to be honest, I like how I look. I think that, like with most people, height is something they notice the first time they meet me, then my personality takes over. If I seem short all the time, its because I have a short personality. (I don't, I tend to be rather opinionated and people say they forget how short I am). I don't understand this thinking at all. It is very American/English line of thinking. "I forgot how short you are" :/ In other countries, I think the tall guys still have an advantage, but nothing like in America. I don't understand at all why people attribute so many personality traits to...how long your legs are I'm not saying that's bad because I am some uppity loser whining about discrimination and prejudice, I say this because I have never been able to correlate a personality type to someone's height, even when I've looked specifically for it (to see what everyone was talking about). I know an equal amount of physically and emotionally strong/weak short and tall people.
OliveOyl Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I'm 5'2" and only worried about my height when I was in my teens and had to hem pants. But I'm very happy with my height. I shop in the petite section and never have to hem anything anymore. I never have to worry about being taller than any guy I might date - even with heels. I love my height
DreamerGirl27 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 actually, I wish I was shorter...I've always wanted to be about 5'4" or at the most 5'5"... I'm 5'6", so it isn't too bad.
veggirl Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I am 5'8 and I think it is perfect. I used to think I was too tall when I was a teenager, and in my early 20s I thought I was too tall to wear heels. I wear 4 inch heels regularly. I like being tall. I like long legs. I have never had a negative comment about my height from a guy, even when I am taller than them in my heels.
J200 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I am 4'11" and have always wanted to be taller; my ideal height would be 5'6 - 5'8 with 5'8 the most ideal height. I felt ostracized and miserable as a kid because of my height and always felt taller girls were more "model like" while I felt like a midget. I am lucky and thank the stars that I am petite (size 00) because if I were short AND chubby then my life would have been over! lol If i could change my height today I definitely would. I feel ignored and not taken seriously because of my height; people don't respect me enough. Even though I am in my early thirties I can get mistaken as much younger even if I dress WAY up and wear a tailored suit and heels. One time I was ignored at the bakery because I was behind the pole and the guy didn't see me and took the order of the person that was behind me. I was livid and walked off and I was so angry I called and cursed him out and told him how he dare ignore me and mistake me for a child just because I'm short... lol He claimed he didn't see me and that it happens some times but whatever. Pissed me off. Being short as a woman is still a curse but it would have been worse if I was short AND overweight but since I am petite I just have to deal with being mistaken as a child.
eerie_reverie Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I'm 5'8 and I wish I was shorter so I didn't risk looking "big" if I gained 5 lbs. Tall is only good if you're skinny.
