They seem so happy when they've watched good movies, sports games and their video games................ but they never seem enthusiastic about someone they like? Or maybe its that thing about 'he's not that into you' I guess..........

You'll notice all people are more at ease showing affection to a dog, cat, or other pet than they are to a human. People are afraid of losing face by expressing completely how they truly feel to another.

BeginAgain Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Even after you get together you will be on guard the only thing that can negate this is a lovey dovey honeymoon period. Not all relationships start with one and when that honeymoon is over you'll be back on high alert. You'll be more open with your SO than your friends perhaps as long as the relationship is healthy and going well. Though you won't be completely open. The lovey dovey period is the only time people let themselves be truly vulnerable because they are on such a high they feel nothing can touch them. Only drugs can give you such euphoria. It is part of the body's punishment/reward system.

Are you still giving him what he wants from you(food, love, sex, helping out around his place, etc), without getting the attention you desire? Stop going over to his place so much, or seeing him so much in general. Go do things that you like to do without him. Match his effort. Or break up. Or talk to him about it(try this one first). When we get into something and become quite pumped up by the previous events whether it is sex, sports, videogames, etc. it is hard to quit and it is hard to slow down to the point where we could divert our attention to something else. This level of excitement might also be why a man could show preference in something else over even sex with his woman. Some women are boring even in bed and can't match the intensity you could get else where. As a relationship lasts longer and longer the exhilaration the same woman can provide drops. Also women become complacent and don't do the things she once did to get the guy in the first place.

I'd glady trade playing a video game or watching sports even for just having a real life woman in her underwear pressed against me. Heck even if all I could do was look, I'd just drop the controller and be staring at her instead of the game, no matter how great the game was.

They are dating sweet young things and would rather kill zombies than play with her. They ignore her and play the games. I was visiting one night about a year ago and she was pestering him about going to the beach with a bottle of wine to sit on a blanket and watch the sunset. He wouldnt go no matter what she did. She even said to him that you will get laid for sure and he just laughed at her. He never went and she was pissed the entire evening. I suspect its for the same reason that almost all men like porn. They dont have to interact with her, negotiate with her, take into consideration her feelings, etc...Its because they are all wrapped in themselves and dont have to care for another human being. Do a search on Google and there are quite a number of studies on it.

If I want to have a good discussion about astrophysics it is my experience most women won't want to be involved. Similarly I have zero interest in talking about shopping, celebrity gossip, or hair. Same principal applies here. If you don't like your BF playing video games... maybe try playing with him... or find your own thing.

At my age relationships are typically very short, competition is very fierce, quality women are hard to find and the reward usually does not make up for the effort and drama that comes from the whole ordeal. For the most part it takes someone I'm really into to get me enthusiastic. However there is no drama with movies or video games, no effort needed. Easy pleasure at the press of the button. Add that to friendship and sexual fulfillment from internet pornography and women begin to become obsolete as sought after prizes. I'm not saying it's healthy but that is the mindset many men have.

I don't want to be that man and I am not but I do believe that until men know how to put their foot down and not be a doormat maybe they should stay away from dating and relationships.

Now you don't need to work on your self esteem and all that stuff. However, I think that most men who rather get into games usually don't have a great r'ship with their partners. Either that, or they have issues.
