Hey there LS! Was recommended by a friend to come here, as good advice is given.

I was wondering what you guys think about Creatine? I'm not too sure should I start taking them or not. One of my guy buddy has just started taking these last week.

I'm just seeing if anyone had experience with Creatine? Is it worth it? Any side effects? That sort of thing.

Thanks for reading!

Only take it is you're trying to compete athletically or in body building. It's expense and does help in building muscle but it's a waste of money to just take if you're not trying to compete or sculpt yourself. It won't put muscle on you just by taking it.

true words. Creatine helps you recover faster and builds muscle, provided you are working out heavy The most common dose is 20 g per day for five days, (loading phase) and between 5 and 10 g per day for maintenance. I take five g daily on non workout days, 10g on workout days. That seems to work well for me.

Like others have said, it only supplements an already in place routine and diet.

It's good though, I noticed strength gains within about a week, although I was quite tired before my workouts to start with as I had to stop drinking coffee (not supposed to take caffeine when on creatine).

It also affected my sleeping pattern for about 5-6 days, was fine after that though. It's pretty cheap, I pay £14 for a kilo of it, just pure creatine monohydrate, I think that's about $25.

You do not have to "load" creatine. A dose of 5 grams per day is enough. More than that is generally a waste.

It's safe to use and it's cheap compared to most other "bodybuilding" type supplements. Keep in mind about 10 percent of folks are considered non-responsive to creatine.

The effects are not in any way, shape or form magical. You can start at any time, but as Ginger Beer mentioned, your training and diet will be the biggest determinant of your results. Whether or not you use teh creatinze will result in a very slim sliver of your overall experience.

I've taken Creatine and with good results. If you do make sure you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day. The water will volumize your cells.

I will tell you tough I have gotten far better results with Nitric Oxide. I use Force Factor from GNC. They are two totally different supplements. Not unlike creatine though make sure you are drinking plenty of water (100 ounces a day)

AFAIK, tman666 is correct with regards to the loading phase, I did think this myself but didn't want to point it out.
