Dantcg Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 OK, I'll start off by saying I like the person in question - and I guess this could cloud my judgement. Anyway... there's a girl (of course) and I have an inkling (maybe more than one) that she likes me - but as an over thinker, and yet someone who doesn't trust themselves I have no idea. The first thing that makes me consider this is that she seems to be super-friendly with me. We only met [same soccer team], like a few weeks ago (although we had chatted on Facebook prior to that as she goes to my sister school) and she seems to be very chatty with me, as I'll go into later. She seems more friendly with me in such a small period of time then some of her other guy friends in our soccer team that she's played with for years and years. Maybe its just because I'm new. If you can't be bothered to read very much, the short story is... she's showed what I think are signs that she likes me, but I don't see too much of a reason why she'd actually like me, and so I'm not sure. I will now go into some details that make me think she might like me. The first time I had a real conversation with her we were sitting at Maccas after one of our games with the rest of our team and there was a moment where it was just her and me. We talked about stuff we'd talked about over Facebook. I write a lot, and once she asked me to use her name as one of my characters. So she said that she read that again last night. (later that week...) I play in a band and we had a concert, she was in the front row of the mosh (it was small event), we were one of many acts. While we were playing she yelled my name out, I looked at her and she was smiling, I did a head nod of acknowledgement and she nodded back. A bit later on she was a bit caught up in the music and dancing/singing and yelled something out that I think was: "Daniel I like you alot!" But I'm not 100% sure of this as it was loud, so take that with a grain of salt - however, its not like me to imagine such a thing, I'm a lil pesmistic. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her for the rest of that night. (the next morning) Another soccer match. Before the game, commenting to someone else about the gig last night, she said turning to look at me, that she worships me and then she bowed to me. It seemed like a joke, but such an odd one and out of the blue. I replied saying that all I did was stand there and play a stupid keyboard. She frowned, before the coach told us to come to the sideline. As a side note - she seemed to celebrate loudly (she was on the bench) when I scored [our fourth goal of the match, so nothing loud celebration worthy]... this seems really lame, but for the rest of the game it seemed we were both solely trying to set each other up for goals and no one else (she noticed this, so she said later on in passing) - anyway... On the track of things I could've been imagining, it seemed when we were both on the subs bench and she was talking to her friend who had come to watch the match, they kept glancing at me throughout the conversation. Although, they could've been looking at something behind me. After the game, I was walking back to the stand, alone, to get my bag and she was just leaving - walking with her friend from before. I walked past and she randomly initiated the weirdest conversation... "Did you see my cut? It was awesome" - "I was her nurse" (her friend said)... - I looked puzzled, "Your what?" - "My cut, it was massive... oh, and you know the orange haired guy on the other team??" - "Oh, the guy who thought he was funny (I replied) - "Yeah, yeah, well during the game he was like... mark the hot girl! and pointed to me... ewwww...." - (I was quite confused at this time) "Aha...." - "I can't believe I didn't score! I came so close!" - "Yeah I know right... I set you up so many times" (I said jokingly, although it was true ) - "Yeah, well, I've never been a striker before." - "Poor excuse" (sarcastically, while shaking my head)... and then I kinda walked off, and said bye - they both said bye again and that was that. I probably could've reacted better, but I was muy confused at the time. (cut to ten minutes later) I'm sitting outside the canteen which is next to the bathrooms. She and her friend come out and see another school friend who they hug. Then whilst one of them talked to the school friend the girl in question walked quickly towards me and said, "Tell her I scored all 6 goals" in a whisper before turning to return to her friends. First of all, I found this odd as I was sitting next to at least three other guys who she'd known for years and would be more likely to lie (albeit jokingly) in such a situation. So then she and her friends come over, I pull the whole "She was brilliant, all 6 goals" Rubbish, and just as they're walking off I whisper to the girl in question, "I'm a horrible actor," She replied while smiling, "You will go nowhere in life!" And that was that. So am I reading too much into all of these events. Be honest - I don't mind, it was good enough to get this off my chest. Thanks so much for reading! Regards, Daniel.
SummersEve Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 (edited) I do see some interest, yes, but then you can't tell for sure until you ask her out and she says yes or no, or some other concrete thing like she decides to give you a kiss, lol. Sometimes people like to flirt a bit and don't want more, or sometimes the interest is real but there are other things that hold them back. You are basically trying to find the answer when you do not have the full facts, it's not possible. Maybe best to develop the habit of just asking the girl out when you are interested. For a lower risk way, I would ask for a specific event on a specific date. That way if she is not interested she can let you both off the hook without outright rejection. For example, "Do you want to go out sometime?" No. "I'm thinking about going to see X movie Friday night. Want to come with me?" Yes. If she says she's busy Friday night, take that as "not interested" unless she responds with an invitation of her own. Just my opinion. Good luck. Edited April 3, 2011 by SummersEve
