TouchedByViolet Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 It really depends on the person. Some women look sexy with short hair and others do not. I do think that most women who look good with short hair also look good with long hair but not vica versa.
allenmj Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Im normally a long hair guy, but the girl I'm seeing right now has short hair and it's very sexy on her with her specific features.
starryeyed12 Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Supposedly there have been studies that men prefer long hair in general because it indicates youth, health and fertility, just as wide hips and fullness of cheeks. I have had long hair my whole life. A few years ago I decided to chop 12 inches off for Locks of Love. I liked it and it definitely made me look more stylish and sassy. I met my last bf while it was still pretty short. However, I really missed my long hair! I personally feel sexier with it long.
Nexus One Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 (edited) Very, very few women still look as good with short hair as with long hair. One of the reasons is that in order to look beautiful with short hair a woman would need a face that complements short hair. Not all women have that, in fact very few women have that. In this image there are a few women that can have short hair in my opinion, i.e. Natalie Portman, Natalie Imbruglia, Morena Baccarin and Jolene Blalock: http://bit.ly/dZC2Ss A second reason why short hair only looks good on very few women is that many women are doing it wrong. They'll get a haircut that is far too masculine and they don't realize it. Masculinity in women is something that most men gravitate away from. The problem of those women, in my opinion, is that they don't have a refined eye/taste for aesthetics and for "the feminine look". I noticed a similar thing in Eastern European women who dye their hair blonde. The way many if not most Eastern European women dye their hair blonde is just awful. It looks absolutely trashy, they completely destroy their look with it. They're doing it wrong. They use a substance that bleaches or chemically burns the white dye into their hair. I'm not an expert, but it achieves "a particular blonde look". Don't get me wrong, with their natural hair color I think Eastern European women belong to the most beautiful in the world. But they don't get it, they don't get the aesthetics of it, they just don't get that the way they dye their hair makes them look like trailer trash in Western Europe and North America. Northern American and Western European women tend to be a lot better at dying their hair blonde. I don't know why the hell Eastern European women do it like that. And they combine it with clothes that have tiger print patterns, leopard print patterns and zebra print patterns. The f*ck. People who have been to Eastern Europe and Russia know the look I'm talking about. That style is just so destructive to a female's appearance. It makes women either look trashy or like a prostitute. Please women all over the world, for the love of god stop aiming for that style. The worst thing about it is that the women who do it probably think it makes them look rich or something or "high class", but the opposite is very much the case. Another thing about it is that they even manage to attract certain men with that style. However I'm not sure women would want to attract "that type of man". The reason I rant about it is because it's just such a waste to see a beautiful woman destroy her appearance like that. So my point regarding short hair and dying your hair blonde is that unless you know what you're doing, keep it long and keep your natural color. That's the safe bet. So to answer OP's question. Would I as a man always prefer long hair? No, not necessarily, not always, but the women who can pull it off successfully are so scarce in my opinion, that the sight of such women is very rare. If you as a woman look beautiful with short hair, then there's a good chance you are amazingly beautiful to begin with. Edited March 29, 2011 by Nexus One

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the blonde dye you prefer is most likely salon created by talented colorists, where those in the Eastern Bloc tend to rely on what comes in a box, and do it themselves. Until I'm 6 weeks out from a touchup, most folks would never guess my natural haircolor (auburn). But that's because my colorist is a godsend and she matches the tone to my skin tone.
carhill Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 My datapoint, having loved a few women over many years, was/is that different hairstyles imbued them with different kinds of attractiveness. Changing hair length gave them a different 'feel'. In this example, relatively short hair fits well with the lady's facial features and neckline. I like the style on her for the same reasons I liked it on Audrey Hepburn. In this example, perhaps recognized by some as one of our own, she wears her hair longer and it works well with and softens her strong features. I've seen her as a blonde as well as brunette (natural) and personally think she looks better natural. Overall, I generally prefer hairstyle lengths which allow a modest to moderate ponytail. No explanation but something about that is arousing. I've never dated anyone (nor LTR/M) who had really long hair, like down to their butt. Middle of the back was the longest.
Star Gazer Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I like how you threw RP () in there, Carhill. She has a great hair texture...

That's very well possible. I'm not very savvy when it comes to the type of products and techniques that are used. I only look at the result. was/is that different hairstyles imbued them with different kinds of attractiveness. Changing hair length gave them a different 'feel'. I like that about some women too. Some women are like chameleons and can (completely) change their style of appearance and manage to look good in every style. I absolutely love that in girls/women. Men have far fewer options when it comes to "changing styles like a chameleon", well maybe they have options, but men generally don't do it. With style I mean pretty much everything though, i.e. hair color, hair length, clothing, make-up, etc. Edited March 29, 2011 by Nexus One
Feelin Frisky Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I have no particular hang up on long hair. There are some styles of short hair I can't stand though--those mannish squirrel cuts middle age women wear (mostly married). I was in a relationship with a black female for 5 years who had NO hair at times (buzzed to the root) (but I prefer at least some on a black female's head). I can say I like hair with some body to it and curls a little better than straight hair. But the bottom line is it all has to look feminine. Anything masculine shuts me down. Boomp.
cerridwen Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I purposely wear my dark hair long (mid-back) because it is more attractive to guys. Yes, I've avoided a shorter cut even though I once cut it into a pixie and it was very flattering. Part of me feels embarrassed admitting this.
Chicago_Guy Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I prefer hair that is at least shoulder-length on a woman. A woman with an exceptionally attractive face and a slim build can look good with short hair, although most men do prefer longer hair on women. Longer hair is definitely more feminine than shorter hair.
Andy_K Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I'd choose long hair every time. I have not seen a single attractive woman with short hair, who would not look much better still with long hair.
zengirl Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I think in a knee-jerk reaction, guys will say "Long hair is better" but even guys who say that have told me certain shorter hairstyles looked cute. I think they equate long with feminine in their minds sometimes, but as long as the hairstyle is feminine and fits your face, I don't think it's hurting your dating life. Though longer hair CAN be slightly more erotic, I suppose. I keep my hair between mid-length and long now (just past the shoulder to four inches below, generally). I used to keep my hair short when I was younger/in college because it made me look legal (I look very young, even now), and I had a BF who liked long hair but preferred my hair short --- because the style suited me, and I would've looked 12 with long hair back then. I think long hair provides a bit of youth and that's why it's ironic that older women cut their hair, aging themselves further, whereas it's a better time to grow it out if you're looking to stay youthful. But I'm sure it's for practical purposes.
ChessPieceFace Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 It's a preference but not a huge one. Some girls can pull off short hair and it looks good, others can't. Aren't you able to judge your appearance? Just ask people who are honest.
tb24 Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I kinda have a thing for girls with shortish hair ^^. There is a limit though, shaved/spiky really does nothing for me but pixie cut... YES PLEASE! Depends on the girl though. It just doesn't go with some faces. By the way, I'm a man with long hair if that makes any difference!
Author lookingforyou Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 Just to qualify, when I say short I don't mean spikey like someone in combat. I meant something short but "feminine" with feminine facial features.
