Do you think women with a short hairstyle aren't feminine enough even though it's a nice one? How many women grow their hair long because they believe that's what guys prefer? Will you do it even if short hair suits you better?
ascendotum Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Its a strong preference for me, and factors in my attraction towards a woman, and I would bet the majority of men also. There are definitely some women short hair can look good on, but they tend to be slender build, younger & more feminine in features and manner, which I guess offsets the short/pixie haircut. Saying that though one of the more famous short hair women as I describe above, Mia Farrow, I do not find all that attractive. Natelie Portman looks good with short hair, but I still would find her more attractrive with long hair. Hollywood certainly goes with longer hair for female roles any age. I suspect quite a few women over 30 underestimate the appeal (accentuation it has on their feminity) longer hair has for guys.

Of course, I've seen women that can pull off the short hair (Peter Pan) hairstyle....except for overweight women....usually a woman that's overweight, she has long hair....then one day when she decides to lop it all off, it can cause a serious rift in a marraige. lol I"ve heard of a husband that when his wife came home and it was almost all gone, she was like "how do you like it?" and he didn't answer right away....boy he was in trouble. lol
tigressA Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I am a chin-to-shoulder-length gal at heart, but I'm in the midst of growing my hair quite long for a change. Most guys I have dated preferred me with long hair. Like PegNosePete said, it is annoying at times because it gets in the way.

When me and my girlfriend have sex and we kiss it tends to get in the way which can ruin some of the spontaneity, but it's not a huge issue. Long hair is feminine depending on style. Some men can have longer hair and still look manly. And even there she might have her hair tied back but I can't see it. Any shorter than that or a crew cut I would just find to look too lesbian / manly for me. Not that there's anything wrong with lesbians of course, but me being a heterosexual male I have no attraction to it (and I'm assuming that's who you're directing the question to). And btw I don't think Nicole looks her best in that pic posted before. She looks nice with long hair.

I mean a short "bowl" cut that has a woman looking like Moe Howard from the three stooges NO. A short "princess di" cut yes. Very long hair can be too much too. Hair down to their mid back is ok as long as it's clean and neat.

Nobody will be able to answer that without a picture (not suggesting that you post one). I'm actually a hairstylist and it's amazing how much of a hairstyle looking good on someone has to do with their facial shape, bone structure, features, and even their overall body size. The true yay or nay is up to you...if you like it and are comfortable and feel beautiful in it then leave it. I met my boyfriend when I had rather short hair...and though I've been growing it out since...he was still attracted to me at the time.

A girl with a really pretty face/eyes looks better with short hair because it focuses your attention on her face, not her hair.

I think Halle Berry is a great example of a woman who looks BETTER with short hair. Because her face is so gorgeous, long hair on her simply looks unnecessary. With short hair her amazing features can shine all on their own.

Just like women are attracted to muscularity over pudginess (in general) - it's a feature of masculinity. The rules of attraction in humans are really pretty simple.

Will you do it even if short hair suits you better? It has personality implications. I find the shorter haired women to be aggressively liberal or gay. Most strike me as unhappy to be women. Mid length women tend to be older with kids and choose this for lower maintenance. Longer hair is so common it really doesn't make much of a personality statement other than it provides me the feeling she is proud of her femininity.

I had a short bob in college and will say I was not a guy magnet during that time. Maybe I just look bad with short hair but like I said, guys tell me not to cut it...haha.

I used to alternate between semi long and bob. And no, I don't have the boobs to go with it. One of my ex'es asked me not to cut it anymore and voilà ! I'm practically Crystal Gayle. I have been considering cutting about 10-12 inches off, though. I'm really tired of the maintenance.
