Just look at it from a more feminine perspective. If you give her money and material things... it makes her feel special and loved. Of course unless your Kobe Bryant those things alone won't work. So really it isn't full on shallow materialism, that's just how it seems from an objective standpoint.

So what does my avatar say about me?

I try to but it always annoys me cause I'm always that guy who asks the why or why not questions.

Why does a female need to worry about the things I give her?

Why can't she be happy with who I am as a person?

Why can't she be happy with the way I make her feel?

Why is she so insecure and low on self-esteem that she needs unjust acts to make her happy and feel loved and special?

Why can't she be content and confident with who she is?

Just reading rubia and Smile's posts alone kind of irked me. I mean they're judging dude by the kind of car he drives. Wtf? To me, that's being materialistic in your dating life. But ****, it's like the norm for females to be this way. If a chick pulls up in a ****ing Yugo with the bumper hanging off and a dead cat splattered all over the front grill of her car...I wouldn't care. As long as I'm into her and she's beautiful.

And your avatar tells me that if someone got in your face you'd suplex that ****er ontop of a marble table.

Who am I judging? How was I judging?

All of the girls said they would NOT be attracted to the fancy car so how does that make them materialistic? Also, weren't you the one that asked them to choose between the two cars to begin with?

To be honest, I don't even know what those two different cars are so I certainly wouldn't be judging anyone by them.

Personally, I find gratuitous displays of wealth to be a big turn-off. No, UF, it's not because I'd prefer that the man spent all that money on me.

What a person does with whatever they have, grand or humble, says it all.

Believe it or not, there are many, many of us who don't give a flying f**k about what kind of car a guy drives.

I feel sorry for you, dude.

Are you kidding me? If dude is driving any of the cars we mentioned, he's definitely in possession of some power, definite wealth, and definite success.

Truly, cars are meant to get you from A to B. The need to buy a super-expensive unit would really put me off.

I would actually feel uncomfortable bring in the passenger seat of one if those vehicles. It just seems to ridiculous to purchase one when there are so many better uses for money. Unless my guy had some kind of professional ties withs vehicle like that, I actually wouldn't date him.

i am not judging anyone. i really could care less what people drive. my prerequisite for dating material used to never even require a car until i dated a guy that had no car and i was driving everywhere and picking him up all the time. i still liked the guy, but it was a pain.

and yes, i would be hesitant arriving somewhere with a guy in his car if the bumper was hanging off and it had a dead cat splattered on it (:lmao:)- but i would also feel hesitant to arrive somewhere in an awesome car too.

i am more comfortable with middle of the road- not extremes.

1. Why does a female need to worry about the things I give her?

2. Why can't she be happy with who I am as a person?

3. Why can't she be happy with the way I make her feel?

1. Most women are all about lifestyle. I don't know many that are interesting in cohabiting a cardboard box with you. Whatever lifestyle she wants may take a certain level of income to achieve. If she earns it herself as many do today... they will look down on a guy who doesn't earn more. Princesses don't have happily ever after with peasants.

2. Most women would be very happy with who you are as a person... but that doesn't feed a family or put a roof overhead.

3. Again... she will be happy with the way you make her feel.... but what feels better than diamonds and fur?

It's an emotional reaction to what you said earlier. Some people here take gender generalizations very personal. Usually insecure people who fit the generalizations very well.

I use that picture of myself because I enjoyed wrestling, and I will fight for my beliefs.

Nobody likes a braggart, which is I think the attitude you are assuming a guy like that would have. Just because a guy owns an expensive car, or boat, or house, doesn't tell you his motives for buying it. My friends father bought a 1.2million $ yacht, so he could spend time doing something enjoyable with his kids.

By the way... I've always thought that avatar suits you best! The sassy looking redhead. Though maybe instead of skirt blowing up ala Marilyn Monroe... a catwoman or S&M leather suite may be more appropriate.

Ugh... He was pointing out that it's shallow to make assumptions and preferences for men based on what they drive.

You just disagreed with him.... then went on to prove his point beyond a shadow of doubt.

I used to not care when I was younger what kind of car a guy drove, but now that I am older and have kids, it would matter to me. Neither a beat up POS nor an extremely high end car scream fiscal responsibility to me. As much as I would like to deny it because it seems "shallow," if I was looking for a potential life partner, these things do matter.

Is this gender specific? Are you interested in living in a cardboard box?

UF, I believe you once reported me for making a comment that you did not like regarding "white men." You also have stated point blank that you might be insulted if your race, religion or nationality were spoken of disrespectfully. Why would a woman who feels that way when women in general are bashed and trashed be any different to you? What gives?

Since nearly 80% of the people who actually LIVE in cardboard boxes are male... I'd say it IS gender specific.

A generalization is just that... general. Should I be shocked? Not all dogs have tails... though most do.

I take race and religion very seriously. Gender really isn't that big of a deal... unless of course you have some sort of mixed gender situation... I would be very sensitive to that.

I'll give my input since I believe this applies to me:

I live on the water in southern California. For those that are from that part of the state, not exactly a poor area. I know quite a few people that live in Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Malibu. In these neighborhoods, Porches, Lamborghinis, and Ferraris are very common. These people basically wipe their asses with $100 bills.

I have a Chevy Malibu. Could I afford something slightly more expensive? In all honesty, yes. But I'm content with what I have. No doubt that many women would flock to the Ferrari or Lamborghini. But, life isn't about what kind of car you drive. There's also many millionaires that drive cars cheaper than mine. These people are also more likely to keep their money since they don't blow it on expensive items.

Targeting a group is targeting a group. You're either against it, or you're not. You can't have it both ways.

Way to date yourself.

I always liked Hank the Ranger... voiced by a cracked out Willie Aimes.

When that group is half the worlds human population... I don't have to be all that sensitive.

I look at your avatar totally differently now that I know that really isn't you in the picture.

Or... a massive wipeout followed by surgery and years of intensive rehabilitation.

I think it fits you well. :p

I suggest that you extend the courtesy to understand that some people take insults to their gender similarly to the way you take insults to your race, religion or nationality. Prejudice is okay with you, as long as it's not directed at your particular sanctioned groups? Hm.

White people make up more than half of the population of the country in which you and I live. Using your own rationale, why do you feel that people should speak respectfully of your race here?

My avatar means I had a conversation that lasted WAY too long with a bunch of mysoginists whose view of women is that they should cook dinner, STFU, and say "Ahhhh" when their guy wants a BJ. Naturally, I did a google picture search for "blow up doll," and the rest is history.

I always wondered about your avatar.

'Eve composes herself to not get too excited and write too much'

My avatar is of 'Dungeon Master' from the 80's cartoon, 'Dungeons and Dragons'. Those who watched the cartoon will understand that it was THE BEST, BEST, BEST CARTOON EVER MADE!

I imagine the philosophical poise of Dungeon Master has stayed with me subconsciously throughout the years.. just reminds me of that special time when you are a child and can completely slide into a different world.

Happy days!

Meh... I call it an explanation. You may call it whatever you like. :)

Nope... Full on Jinx! Ssomeone jinxed me late last year. I was cursing her name while cartwheeling down a double diamond in January. Now I'm paying it forward. :p

Whoah there Tiger! We are not talking about prejudice here... just generalizations.

You can generalize about white, black, asian, hispanic... I might correct you... but I won't be personally offended. Now you come on here and talk about how you hit a black woman with a baseball bat just because you don't like the color of her skin... I'm not the type of guy who will stand for that!

I respect your race... thus I expect you to respect mine. If you don't.... so be it. I would argue that race doesn't really exist anyways.
