Ill try to keep it brief -

My girl friend and I have been together almost 3 years. She recently turned 21, I have been over 21 for sometime. She asked me if she could go to a club with this girl who is not the best influence. I was hesitant about it and I asked her if she could go with someone else or just pick something different to do that evening. Instead she exploded on me telling me I was a controlling boy friend and she should be able to go to a club with anyone she wants. She also accused me of not trusting her, which couldn't be further from the truth. I trust her, I just did not trust her friend. We have now been on a break for a week and she orignially told me she would get back together with me tomorrow, but she has pushed that date to a little further now. I told her I don't care if she goes out, and I reaffirmed my trust in her. She told me she doesn't like the person shes became over our relationship, but she speaks A LOT in the now with out thinking anything through. I've been severely depressed about the situation, anyone have any remedies to this one? My goal is to ultimately mend our relationship back to a healthy state. Thanks!

Give her space. As a matter of fact, maybe you should go totally off the radar. No calls, texts, visits, nothing.

Not to add to your depressed state, but since she's now 21, a whole new world has been opened to her. You need to see how she's going to react to this.

After some time of not hearing from you, she will eventually contact you. Let her know you're giving her ALL the space she wants. Then continue to do this. If she loves you as you do her, she'll make it clear and inquire about why you're backing off and being distant. Then the two of you can address the issues within your relationship. But if she continues to remain distant, then you need to re evaluate if you want to be with her at all.

If she values her new found "freedom" over your relationship, well then it's time to cut bait and move on.
