Nooooooooo. Not because of ivalm but because I just won't go there On LS (anymore, again, whatever! haha!).

You had an LS romance? Inquiring minds want to know.

Back to the topic, you two!

Ivalm, please just try on the horn rimmed style at the store. If you know you can't be comfortable in them, that's that ... but I am positive that you will be SO cute in them, and with a little tiny bit of hair help, girls will adore it. You know, a lot of people are going for those "nerdy" frames since people like Johnny Depp are wearing them, but you have a perfect face for them, and the "brainiac" thing going on for real.

Lol, but you're forgetting.. I can't see myself when I try other glasses because without my lenses I'm blind and helpless, well, at least blind! May be next time... as long as my fears of having to cancel my existing order are alleviated, I'm happy :)

BTW, as an inquiring mind, I second Nexus One, who was it?!

ivalm, since you can't see what you look like without the prescription lenses, have someone take a picture of you with the potential frames on and then put on your original glasses to view the pic. As a possibility, bring a netbook or laptop and a digicam if your webcam takes too murky a picture.

Semi-rimless glasses is highly hit or miss depending on your features. They are very delicate, so the contrast has to be just right. To that end I'm put off by the thick temples. I think the frames you linked to are clumsily designed.

And Ivalm, are you a male or a female? They're even harder to pull off as a male.

Here's a reasonable starting guide to choosing glasses. It's all about your face shape, particularly the relationship between your eyes, cheekbones, and nose.

One time I broke my "try them on in person rule" and ordered some glasses online because I really loved the brand and I figured I'd take the risk. I looked like I was wearing one of those Groucho Marx masks. Then my boss tried them on and he looked so sharp, like some kind of legendary jazz musician or something.

I ended up getting some similar glasses with subtle distinctions, the most dramatic being scale, and it made all the difference. Now I look like I probably designed whatever chair I'm sitting in at the time, it's great.

Please read the thread, I posted 2 pictures of myself and also a picture of a frame similar to the one I bought ;)

Man, now you brought back my uncertainty!!

Grrr.. yeah, what I usually do is get someone to come with me and give me advice, which is how THIS pair was chosen. This allows me to try on and get feedback on a lot of pairs (like I tried may be 15+ pairs before settling on this one, but really it's all about the taste of who I am with since all I can say is whether the frame sits comfortably on me).

About hair.. I don't think I'm emotionally ready to spend more than bear minimum on someone to cut my hair, but I'll try combing my hair differently and buying hair spray to maintain shape (I've never really used any hair products other than shampoo/conditioner combos). I think I have some inherent understanding of when my hair looks "better" but my issue was always that even if I comb it it naturally changes shape within an hour or two :)

OK, I looked at your latest photo.

Don't go thin rim; your face is too narrow and your features too soft for thin rims. Go thick rim, definitely. If you're concerned about being too nerdy don't go black, go tortoiseshell, or you could try something less conventional.

Also, I say this with the most fondness. Emotional state? Come on man, stop being a bitch and go to a salon. A good hairdresser, who knows hair -- more importantly, your hair -- is indispensable. I can't believe the number of people who will nonchalantly allow strangers put to scissors and razors to their head and start doing whatever. If you don't care, fine; if you care, you're being foolish by not putting in effort to find reliable talent. Get your **** together.

LOL, 'tis was a joke! I just feel like I would be the only guy I know who spends non-minimal amount of money on a haircut :)

But I am surprised by all the people advocating thick glasses and going to a hair stylist.. something to think about for me, I guess...

I don't wear glasses, but if I had to then I would probably pick one of the following styles: http://bit.ly/hYEoAZ

Thanks! That's very helpful actually. I guess I'm in the top-rim only, although mine are not quite as prominent! Actually, the glasses I'm about to get are more prominent than my current ones... may be my next ones will be even more prominent! :)

I think you have a really cute face but I would cut your hair shorter. I can see you wearing kind of messy/gelled/spiky short.

Also, take a pic with no glasses - it's hard to tell if this makes much difference to your looks...

As for weezer style, not sure if you can pull then off. I always found that people either look super dorky or super cool with them ;)

OK, so went out to a (bad) play yesterday but got a chance to get with/without glasses photos

Yeah, I think so too, but I was always concerned that perhaps it's just that I'm used to being with glasses and seeing myself with them.
