joshextreme Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 So the girl I really want to bring to my prom is BEST FRIENDS with my ex. We're talking about how we're gonna tell her because its "girl code". "Girl Code" states that the EX's best friend cannot date the EX's ex(which is me). I honestly think this is bull ****! I really like this girl and it pisses me off that I have to seek my ex for permission. The girl just doesn't have the heart to hurt her best friend even if it means just going to prom together. I don't want to break NC but I might have to. What do you guys think I should do with this?
Little_Bee Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Did you break up with your ex or did she? (Sorry for asking but new here and hence not familiar with your story). If she broke up, why should you care about her 'permission'. She didn't want a relationship with you and has to cope with you seeing someone else. That's life!
depplover_1980 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I got to say Josh, that it isn't just a girl rule. You don't do your best friends ex - it is simple. They can't be that good friends for her to even consider you. Would you go out with your best friends ex then?
Star Gazer Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 It's not girl code, it's FRIEND code. You don't date a BFF's ex, PERIOD.
Author joshextreme Posted March 26, 2011 Author Posted March 26, 2011 It's not girl code, it's FRIEND code. You don't date a BFF's ex, PERIOD. she broke up with me. there's a difference between going to prom with someone and dating someone.
LeeBee Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 I only partially agree with The Code. Who broke up with who is key, because some people wouldn't care, especially if they ended it. It's up to her to ask her friend if it would bother her, but the friendship (depending on the attitude and temperament of your ex) might suffer.
turokturok5 Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 put yourself in her position, would you want your best friend dating your ex? But, on second thoughts, screw it. SHE DUMPED YOU, she chose to get rid of you, to have no emotional attachments with you, so she shouldn't be upset about it at all, if she dumped you she had already moved on. But if her friend doesn't think its right, which she is right about, then you can't help that.
WTRanger Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 (edited) Would you want your best friend going to prom with your ex? Plus since she is her BFF, you'll be around your new girl and your ex. That would be a little awkward don't you think? What if she wants to do the group limo ride or dinner things before prom? Answer that, and you'll answer this post. We all know what prom means, so don't think it's some basic dinner and a movie deal. You go to prom because at the end of the night you are going to be (rhymes with ducking). Why else get the tux, the flowers, all of the rest of the bs? Edited March 26, 2011 by WTRanger

Well this is why I came to this forum, for help lol. Idk I have a month and a half before prom is around so I have a little bit of time to do some searching. Though I really like her best friend and she likes me.

If all parties are cool with it, then go for it. But I agree with the girl wanting to give her friend the heads up first.
Author joshextreme Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 So my ex told her bestfriend that it's ok to go with me. But she tried to hint she was pissed by saying "I can't stop you" and "we wont be able to hangout that night then" Oh well win for me!
