I'm a professor at Simon Fraser University (http://clab.iat.sfu.ca/carman) and studying the routines of people in long distance relationships. In particular, we are interested in those who use video communication systems (e.g., Skype, Google Chat) to maintain their relationship. I'm looking for people to interview as part of a study we are running currently.

The interview lasts approximately 60-90 minutes and we pay you $30 for your time.

To be recruited you must

- be over 18 years of age

- use video/audio systems like Skype, Microsoft Messenger, or Google Video Chat

- hang out with their partner by keeping the video/audio connection open over time

- have a partner who lives in another city or country

- be in an established relationship (at least six months long) and met your partner in person (not online)

- be comfortable describing intimate details regarding your relationship with your partner and the (possibly intimate) activities you do online with your partner.

- ideally live in the Greater Vancouver area in Canada, but if you don't, there is the possibility of interviewing you over Skype from afar (still contact us to see)

We want to understand when and how couples engage in video communication together and what activities they participate in while using that video. We will use this knowledge to better design video communication technologies to meet the needs of distance-separated couples.

Please let me know if you are interested in participating or have more questions. :)

cheers,

carman
