That just means you're out of shape.

*Ducks* lol

Ugh no... it means I run for 60 minutes everyday- with interval mixed in-between.

Papercut, why does this bother you exactly...?

Like I said I'm too self-conscious for my own good. I used to get anxiety attacks when I was little and I just don't like that feeling like people are judging me.

I would feel, and have often felt, the exact same way. I know that men seem to feel that the females of the world are on their turf, but the LAST thing I want when I'm covered in sweat and making faces like a constipated pig is for anyone to look twice at me. Much LESS up the awkwardness by expecting conversation. But this doesn't often happen to me personally because I work out at the college gym which is full of attractive young people who aren't the least bit interested in each other. Thank goodness.

Next, when I took to the machines, I noticed that there would suddenly be a guy or two jumping into the machines next to me. To make matters worse, I have noticed a few guys stare at me.

I'm not trying to brag and I'm certainly not attention seeking. In fact, I was very self-conscious about working out at a unisex gym, I took to wearing the baggiest gym clothes I have. However, this does not discourage people from staring. Okay, maybe it's because I have blonde hair, but honestly, I was sweating like a hog after my run.

Has anyone ever experienced this and what have you done about it?

If they're actually staring in a really rude, indiscreet way, I might make very unfriendly eye contact....but really, there's only one guy in my gym who is a real nightmare and I think most of the male regulars dislike him too. One who was cycling next to me and caught me rolling my eyes about his incessant grunting invited me to try sharing a changing room with the annoying ****er.

Like you, when I'm in the gym I'm generally not open to being talked to...but it's something I try to consciously address as I know I can be verging on rude (if not outright rude) in response to people getting in my what I regard as my space bubble. Whichi isn't a very tolerant way to be. Not everybody is there on the pick up. Certainly not in my gym, where most of the people are very civil.

If, however, men are really gaping at you and openly sizing you up then I think you're perfectly entitled to feel pissed off...but I think it pays to have an awareness of how touchy you are personally about having people in your space. The touchier you are, the more likely (I think ) you are to ascribe dodgy motives to anybody who's getting a bit closer than you'd like...which isn't fair to them, unless they're blatantly gawking or being noisy to a degree that's completely inconsiderate to other gym users.

I'm sorry, but pigs don't even make faces. lol

And you know this, how?

I figured college was one of THE places to hit on chicks. lol In fact, those best times in our life when we meet people

College is THE major hook up place or even meeting your future spouse venue.
