Eternal Sunshine Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 I used to have a big crush on this guy when I was 22 or so. He was in the mutual circle of friends. Very smart (physicist), attractive but kind of eccentric and withdrawn - while being chatty at the same time. I tried to pursue him. I came on really strong (in those days I didn't play any games, if I liked a guy he KNEW it). I was constantly asking him to hang out. He accepted some of the time. We never even kissed. He told me that the reason he doesn't want to date is that he wants 100% focus on his studies and career. That he really wants to make something of himself. I took it as an excuse, deleted his number and found a new group of friends. I never saw him again. That is, until he found me on Facebook few weeks ago. I was surprised to say the least. He is now running a successful company. We chatted a lot. To cut a long story short, we are having dinner in 3 hours. After 10 years. It should be interesting.
Jack & Coke Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Wow! Needsless to say you guys have a lot to catch up on, lol. Well hey, sounds like it'll be fun and interesting to say the least. Definitely keep us posted.
Author Eternal Sunshine Posted March 16, 2011 Author Posted March 16, 2011 Well, I am back. It had more of a friendship vibe to it than date - but I had so much fun. I am going to make it spiritual It is not going to go anywhere romantically BUT that's not all that matters. I was happy to see him again. He has changed a lot. He used to be so uptight but tonight he was telling me stories about dildos - I was laughing for the whole 4 hours. He made big money playing the stock market. He refereed to himself of 10 years ago as "completely dysfunctional". When he was giving the ride home, he took a chewing gum and put it in his mouth. I was hoping that it meant that he may try to kiss me - but he didn't make any moves or future plans. I couldn't really flirt with him at all. I mean I was basically stalking this guy 10 years ago. I baked him cookies and wrote him love letters I wanted to appear as completely normal and together now. I don't even know how he isn't creeped out by me to even want to spend any time with me alone in the dark. He is just soooo smart. He always was. I want to send him a message, just to tell him that I had a nice time and it was good to see him but that would probably come across as too romantic. Sometimes it's nice to enjoy the experience for what it is and not try to force into something that it isn't. Anyways, up to date no. 5 with engineer guy tomorrow night, dinner and movie.....
