My ex boyfriend and I broke up about 7 weeks ago. His excuse was that I wasn't the one and he didn't see a future with me. Given the timing of everything, I think he got more scared and confused than anything else but I do realize he may be telling the truth. I just doubt it! I'm really not holding out hope that we will get back together. I do think we have a very very tiny chance but it's not big chance at all! I know at this point in time only time will tell for sure and I am okay with that! I was just curious from other's experience, what is the average time for getting back together? Also, did the reasons why you broke up play a factor?

I'm in the middle of exploring the reconciliation process with my ex of about 8 weeks. We had maybe three emails go back and forth throughout the first five weeks. We broke up due to personal issues that we didnt think we could really focus on of fix while we were still together.

I met up to tell him that we either needed to start moving towards seeing if we could work things out or i needed to go completely no contact, delete phone number, off fb. The grey area was too painful. We left that meeting agreeing to try to talk more regularly, meet up around once a week and not date or sleep with other people.

Now we are sort of dating again. The way i see it, if two people break up and it wasnt in the heat of the moment and stay broken up past a week or so there was clearly something very wrong occurring. People usually think over a break up alot before going through with it. So I cant just jump back to where you were or you will just break up for the same exact reason.

Both people have to work on themselves and fix what was wrong, and then try to build something new. Both need to know they are willing to go through the hard work and commitment that would be involved with that. This is all clearly going to take a decent amount of time to accomplish.

I have a couple of theories on the matter. One, if you really think its meant to work out whats a couple months in the terms of forever. Two, you want to make sure both people are sure about trying again, can let go of the past and are equally committed, otherwise your just setting yourself to get heart broken again.

I am in the same boat that the person above is in. We weren't talking for a while. Now we are talking and dating again. Things have gotten better. she wants to take things real slow. NO sex just normal hugs and kisses and I had to earn that. got to work are way back to were we were. Maybe she is smarter then me idk.
