I think you have to look at the opposite side of things before completely throwing in the towel and saying, "this is the only way it is."

How many women are going to settle with a guy who's not in the "same league" as they are? Not many. The only time you ever see a 10 with a guy who's more or less "meh" is when he has cash flowing out of his ass.

It's the same thing. Attractiveness in a woman is like status to a man.

But as far as going for the 10, I don't particularly do it. The only time I interact with these 10s is when I'm trying to bring them down a few notches-- but that's a personal hobby. Not gonna get into that.

Well, I don't have the personality that makes up for the lack of looks either. I am unable to generate fun and exciting atmosphere when hanging out with a guy for prolonged periods of time. I never know what to say and things become boring and stale quickly.

I am doomed unless I get plastic surgery.

I can definitely agree to that.

The most recent girl that I was completely infatuated with, was roughly a 6.5. But she had a fun goofy personality and all of our interests were the same.

Stupid girl rejected me and we haven't spoken since December. I still think about her everyday :(

Sorry to hear that somedude. You sound like a catch. Stupid girl :mad:

Not that that's going to help. It will just take slightly longer until men realize how

boring and stale

you are. But not significantly.

I don’t agree that hot girls always get guys.

From my experiences, I firmly believe average girls get hit on more than hot girls and end up in relationships more easily—with average guys.

Hot girls are intimidating and men know they will have less of a chance with them. Average girls are the safer, better option for most men. Average girls also have more options because there are more average guys than hot ones.

Example: I have a friend who’s gorgeous and single. It ridiculous, really, how hot she is. Her best friend who she grew up with is plain—short, a bit chubby, very average—and she, the average one, ALWAYS gets guys over the hot one. She (my hot friend) said they’ll go out and guys will basically move her boobs out of the way to hit on her friend (not that her boobs are hanging out or anything!). She’s rarely gets hit on. I can understand this actually. You’d have to be VERY confident to talk to her.

The plain friend, btw, has so many options, that’s she’s a bit of player and tends to use guys for awhile until she gets bored with him. My friend, on the other hand, is very sweet and wants to get married, but doesn’t date much. I asked my friend if she would want any of the guys who like her friend, and she said not usually because they're very average, but there have been a few who she would have considered. They didn't want her, I guess, because they assumed she was out of their league.

TITCR. Spot on.

I consider myself very attractive (or at least that's what people tell me). So are a few of my girlfriends. Yet, we rarely get approached when out. I have one friend who I don't think is drop dead but I would consider her cute, and she has guys literally falling over themselves to talk to her when we're out. I'm talking about one guy walking away and another one swooping in kinda thing.

I don't even try anymore....

Looks are important for both genders to get there foot in the door with the opposite sex

Exactly.

So why should guys even bother with her? Very attractive girl is probably very picky. She's not even worth my time.

Unless she makes her self look approachable, gives signals and is friendly.

Though odds are she doesn't do any of that for average guys, so they move her boobs out of the way.

I don't see how falling for a '6.5' means you 'don't care about looks', frankly. 6.5 is still above average. If you have even the barest grasp of statistics, you'll find that if 5 means 'average', the majority of the population will be 5. So there really is no conceivable way being attracted to a '6.5' proves that you 'don't care about looks'. :confused:

Pretty girls with outgoing and flirty personality get the most guys.

The top ones, 9-10's, they get sugar daddies, or jerks & douches that think their sh*t don't stink. Average guys get intimidated by them.

It's natural for a 9-10 woman or 9-10 men to... become a certain way that isn't conducive to contributing to a comfortable relationship.

So I say a balanced girl is the best. Well rounded.

But yes, looks matter for women. Just like "financial stability" matters a lot, for men. People are superficial period. You can't get away from that.

Although the recent gender equality is making things interesting. Career women with money and power are becoming more common. I wonder if some guys will start worrying about making themselves look pretty in order to land one of these women, marry, divorce, and take half.

Actually, a 5 really isn't average. The 1-10 score is on the similar system as the ABCDF grade system is.

5 or 50% is an F. 7 or 70% is a C. And C grades are considered average. With a little bit of shifting the scale is like

A = 9 & 10

B = 7 & 8

C = 6 (Average)

D = 5

F = 4 and below

Most young women are at least a C. B's and C's are the most common.

And yes, I'm aware that this probably doesn't make any sense :p

BTW, I never said that I didn't care about looks. A girl has to at least be cute for interest to be possible. And the vast majority of girls I run into on a day-to-day basis are.

Either way, the message that I was trying to get across in my previous post was that, a girl doesn't have to be beautiful for me to become interested in her.

This site, while a bit of a fun does a decent job of covering the scale. Though I wouldn't have Halle any higher than an 8. Alyssa can stay where she is.

Do they got a male version of this?? I wanna see where I'd fall lol.

I'd wanna see different versions for every race too. Cause I think beyonce is way better than Halle, but I still got high school taste with 'minorities'. For white girls it's the other way around though.. they get better as they age. But that's just me :p

And yet, non-cute women get married all the time.

For example, my 20-year old son's future sister in law is engaged. She's abt 24, definitely chunky with a horse's face, bad skin and kind of (she's a sweet girl so I don't want to say it, but it's true) slobbery lips. She has good hair though. And is very smart, an accountant. But she's also a neurotic type control freak. Her fella is a good looking guy, engineer genius type who's also an accountant (dual track in college) and very socialable with good interpersonal skills.

Then there's a secretary Cathy at work. She's about 54 and complains a lot about everything. The world just isn't run right according to her. She's dark (a greek background I think) and has no chin, and a shadow of a mustache and bags under her eyes. She's dumpy. And in the last year she's come up with a boyfriend and is getting married in Nov. I saw him at the Xmas party and he's not bad at all. I asked how they met. His son and her son played soccer together and they met standing on the sidelines talking.

Then there's Karin, almost 60, about 200 pounds, 5'5 short nunnish dirty blond hair, wears polyester and just got married. She does have a pleasant personality though. They met at a dinner party with mutual friends.

Susie is about 52 and just got married. She's blond with shoulder length hair and big eyes, and a nice personality, hard worker and good natured and just radiates reasonableness. She'd be one of those skinny-fat women I learned about today. One thing she has such drooping jowls, her throat skin went from her shin to her collar bone. After she got married she lost some weight and that resolved itself some. But it wasn't attractive. She's very very happy these days. I don't know how they met.

Then there's Ruth our nurse. She's mid sixties and has a rectangular face and a grey bob hair cut and is tall and masculine in her figure. Just marries a doctor last year. They met at a political rally.

And finally there's Toni a financial analyst and an attorney. She's dumpy with longerish frizzy blond hair and another one with no chin and throat waddles. She had a terrible abusive marriage, cried at work during the divorce, and within a year was remarried. She went on facebook and found her high school sweetheart and married him. They live in separate states now and hope to move in together this summer. Between them they have 8 kids between 15 and 24.

These are older not attractive women, and all got happily remarried (altho I wonder about Toni's marriage, and sort of think Cathy's husband is going to regret it).

Men want stunning women for self validation.

Hot women are like valuable items that men want to hang on their wall so to speak. Its like jewelry for women.

But beauty does get old though. So many times I met women whose beauty made my head spin only to notice that the dazzlement wears off little by little after a while.

I dated a guy who was what you call a 9 (or whatever). I thought it would be interesting to date someone who was so good looking. We met via Match. I ended 4 weeks later, which surprised the hell out of him. He was completely in love with his looks and would comment how every woman was looking him.

He bored me to tears. Exceptional looks are practically nothing in the grand scheme of things unless paired with heart, intelligence and substance.

That's hilarious, but seriously, Sacha Baron Cohen is the hottest guy of that bunch, even as Borat. Sexy daring sense of humor gets me every time. I :love: SBC.

And I wouldn't give much cred to what a male blogger thinks women want.

I refuse to date a woman who looks like a man. I just refuse. And that's from someone who asked out a transsexual once. ;)

What if her breasts were just splendid and she cooked the finest food known to man? Eh eh! :laugh:

Her breasts were spectacular and we did talk cooking but I never ate at her house so have no opinion. This occurred right after digital cameras became available in the 1990's so I still have pictures. Nancy was a member of our singles group at the time and I shot the pix at the zoo I worked at back then. It was another case where I got on well with a 'lady' who evidently didn't find me attractive. Regardless, still a good story.

Since the appearance of the ladies I've dated, had relationships with and married varied all over the place, I'd say the 'importance' of a particular look is a non-issue for me. Other men necessarily have their own perspective.

Thats because young men are at their horniest phase. Their emotional judgment is constantly clouded by their 'other' judgment.
