So I've been in an online relationship with this guy for the past 4 years - He's really great guy in all respects, we share lots of common passions and can talk with each other for hours w/o getting bored and we meet each other 4 - 5 times a year for 1 week or so. He's 25 with a good job and I'm 24 and I'm just about to complete my PG. Soon it'll be time for my marriage (Parents here in India get their daughters married at a really young age). And there's no one else I'd like to marry but him.

The thing is, i've no idea what to say to my parents cause its quite obvious they'd think of an "online" relationship to be completely off the hook and lame no matter how well qualified he is. They'd definitely agree if i was dating someone i am physically close to, else they'd go for an arranged marriage.

I'm really worried about this, could anyone of you guys out there help me out? Are there any good excuses i can give to my parents so that they'd approve? :(

PLEASE HELP! xx

Would it be possible for him to come for a visit so you can introduce him to them in person? That would probably make the relationship seem more tangible in their eyes, rather than just an 'online' thing.

Also, do you two have any plans to live together in the future?

Being honest with your parents is probably the best bet, I wouldn't go making up anything just to make the relationship seem more valid. Love is love, and if they want you to be happy then they should respect whoever you choose to be with (I have a limited knowledge of Indian culture and marriage but hope this has been of some help).
