collegeguy_24 Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I've had one date not show up because her car broke down. And it is a legit excuse, it was a piece of crap. But she made it up to me by taking me out once for dinner.

Titania22 Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 She forgot her phone as she was running out the door for work in the morning (or it ran out of battery during the day), and while she was at work got a call, her dad had had a stroke and had been rushed to the hospital, so she left work and went straight to the hospital to be supportive to her mother, while her father was in surgery. And even though they do have pay phones at the hospital, she can't access your number because it is in her phone. Now that happened to me, although I didn't have a date and did have my phone on me. I was busy supporting my mum and contacting relatives to keep them informed, and making sure my kids were ok (because i wasn't at home making their dinner and stuff). So had I had a date I don't know how high that would have been on my priorities. Of course I would probably have sent out I quick text. Forgetting ones phone or it being low on batteries is an easy oversight, and can make extreme circumstances all the more difficult.
in_absentia Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Her mum/dad/sibling has been rushed to hospital Her best friend has a personal crisis and really needs her to be there She's unwell/in pain After a 9 hour day at work she realises she's just too exhausted to go out (taking strong medication) There are a few... the first and third, I'd probably call off the date full stop for a while until I got my stuff together, the other two I'd rearranged a date for when I was gonna be well or a day I wasn't at work.
Cee Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Making a phone call takes less time than going to the bathroom. You don't see people pissing themselves because of "emergencies." A woman would have to have a major medical emergency not to be able to pick up the phone. And if she did have such an emergency and was a responsible person, she would likely call you or have a relative call once they were able to. As for the phone dying thing, it happens. But a responsible person would show up for a date bringing their dead phone in tow. In all my years in life, I never had a date or a platonic friend stand me up on a one-on-on situation. But there's plenty of times, I've had someone back out and call me last minute with a weak excuse. Those people are worth nexting as well.

One went wherever her friends went and if that meant skipping a date she would. It was funny because she did like me everyone said and wanted to date me. But if a girl is that weak then she wouldn't have been good dating material anyway. Good riddens.
