youaretheone Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 (edited) After a long time without the excitement and fast heart beats of love, I met this girl who gives me the butterflies. Even though I am confident with myself and her returned interest level, I sometimes find myself thinking as if I will lose the interest soon and nothing will develop out of this. I am probably thinking that way because I never had a very long relationship because most of the time, my interest faded away. Has this ever happened to you? What is the best way to get away from these thoughts and be more optimistic? Edited March 6, 2011 by youaretheone
Survivor12 Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 In my experience, what you describe is not love but infatuation or lust which DOES subside somewhat in time. Love is what makes the "interest" last long after the butterflies are gone and are replaced by feelings of contentment, warmth and confidence in the relationship. If you continue to lose interest and ditch the moment you stop feeling the adrenaline rush, you won't ever find love.

I guess it was infatuation before or maybe I could not develop it into what you call "love" with the other people. But this time, it feels different. I knew the girl before I went on an official date with her so now I can feel the connection. We only had 2 dates but it feels like this connection will slip off my hands.
