I have no idea if I chose the right place to post this, so I apologize if it's in the wrong forum.

Has anyone been scammed by someone who hooked up with them on a site like Sexsearch or Adult Friend Finder? This happened to my husband and I am curious to know how prevalent it is. He was on AFF, SS and a few other sites a couple of years ago looking to cheat when it happened. He was contacted by a couple of different women who claimed to be living in our city and agreed to meet him for sex but he paid up front and they never showed. One also convinced him to send her money because her father was sick or something.

Yes my husband was a completely idiotic jackass and stupid beyond belief, I'm hoping people can see past that and answer the question because I am quite curious how common it is for people to fall for this kind of thing. Perhaps if you don't want to admit to being as stupid as my husband was you could PM me? I couldn't figure out how to post a poll.

didn't get scammed for money but did feel cheated when he said he loved me after about a month of online chatting....

I joined SS about 18mths ago. I got a lot of attention :D not I suppose just because of me but because I wasn't an escort. Lots of guys I chatted with told me that many of the women on the site were. Not been on for a while but I did go back to take down my profile and I've seen that the profile section has more questions - one of which is asking if you're an escort.

Um buyer beware I guess and I guess they get away with it because they think people will be too embarassed to complain or press charges.

I haven't ever been scammed that way, but I can kinda see how someone could be. My father was always trying to fall for stupid internet scams - send in $100 so we can mail you this or that and you will get thousands!! Crap like that...you basically have to be very careful what's out there...If the person interacts with you it can seem more believable...and there are scams out there for EVERYTHING - from fake IRS notices and bank issues, to Fake clubs and memberships, to Sex, Pity Parties, Education funds...basically if you don't see the person in person or see that it's a legitmate corporation, don't give them your $$.

My husband was on sexsearch.com specifically and while I found no evidence of him bring stupid enough to pay for sex I did find him stupid enough to believe that these women were real and actually contacting him. it was a fun way to find out that the father of your 3 month old didn't give a **** about your family when you were carrying his child.

I've used several profiles and received identical replies using multiple pictures to both of my profiles. I've notified the Sex search site of this situation and they act as if it's the actions of individuals which they will not tolerate.

why anyone would be silly enough to hand over money to women they don't know like that need a good slap.

And folks you would be shocked (maybe not) how many men with wives and girlfriends are on SS.

I did consider letting myself get contacted and list all the married men that contacted me and outing him on the web or even go looking for a MM if a wife was suspicious of his browsing history:cool:

Thought better of it.

I have totally wanted to do that too! Or go on the specific affair sites and do that. I wouldn't be surprised if other people have.
