Eh, I don't see a student loan as debt. But maybe that's just me. When I think about debt I think about people with sums on their credit cards that they can't pay off, overdrafted bank accounts, a house/car payment that they can't afford, etc.

Student loans are usually the most significant debts that people under the age of 30 have. They also are a contributing factor to all the things you mentioned above.

I'm sorry if I said anything to indicate debt by itself is the problem.

 

Obviously if someone has student loans that they are paying off, I'm not going to view that as a deal breaker (unless it's for his 3th bachelor degree, in which case, I will).

 

My deal breaker is financially irresponsibility, which I believe is indicated (in part) by needless debt or a lack of willingness to start paying it off.
