Midas Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Greetings All, I've been away from the forums for a long time. Sorry I haven't kept up. Well, I wanted to check things out, especially now that I'm in an LDR that seems to be going better than expected. I'm excited. And scared. I haven't had much luck in the past...with any of my relationships. I think that's about to change. I recently finished reading that "Men are from Mars" book, and reading The Dance of Wounded Souls. So, yeah, I've got a lot that I'm dealing with right now. It's all very positive. Thanks for being here for me.
wild_urge Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Hey, did the book help ? I am starting to consider reading something like that!
folieadeux Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Welcome back What sort of distance are you and your SO dealing with?
Author Midas Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 Yeah, both books have helped tremendously, especially the 2nd one I mentioned. This site has been really helpful on several topics; http://www.healthyromanticrelationships.com/ We're dealing with roughly 1500 miles between us.
TokyoG33kyGal Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 that website seems to have a lot of helpful information. liked this when i read through it As long as our definition of a successful relationship is one that lasts forever - we are set up to fail. As long as we believe that we have to have the other in our life to be happy, we are really just an addict trying to protect our supply - using another person as our drug of choice. That is not True Love - nor is it Loving.
Author Midas Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 Yes, that site is immensely helpful. I've read all the articles.

Are you cheating on us? *gasp*
Author Midas Posted March 1, 2011 Author Posted March 1, 2011 Cheating? No. I'm just being resourceful.
Author Midas Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 Sorry I haven't posted anything recently. Wow, things are getting interesting!! The original LDR I was referring to, has sort of died. We both concluded that it wouldn't work out. The cost would be too great for either of us, so we broke up. However, we are still friends. One of my other long distance love interests is developing into a very deep friendship. Which, I never thought would be possible. And we've shared a lot. But the bottom line here, is don't give up completely. You may discover a friendship or love like you've never experienced before!! I've given up on the LDR options for a local long-term love interest. Yes, I've met someone closer to home. Thank Gawd. She is amazing.
