I think my dating days are over. A couple of weeks ago I noticed an abnormal growth on my private area. Biopsy was positive for HPV, commonly known as Genital warts....

Now not only do I have to live with one long term illness, which was bad enough...Now I have to live with two...I don't want to do this anymore.

No one will ever want date a guy like me when they could have someone healthier.

Isn't HPV pretty common? Like 1 in 5 or something have it? So go date chicks that already have HPV, then it's not an issue.

Although I've researched it, and that does make me feel less "dirty", I can't help but put myself in their shoes.

If someone told me they had HPV, I'd instantly picture those grotesque pictures on google and run as fast as a could. I can't help but feeling everyone else will do that to me. It's hard enough getting a date as it is!

All I can think to myself is meeting a really great girl and telling her "Oh btw, I have Crohn's disease....and genital warts. Doesn't that turn you on?"

People are uninformed and uneducated, and the stigma attached to this breaks my heart.

All I'm saying is that it's bad situation, because HPV is forever, and I'm really sorry to hear that, but I don't think it's the end of the world.

HPV could get really bad like the grotesque pictures... if you don't get medical treatment. Normal people will stay away from you, but people with HPV shouldn't. If I'm correct there are dating sites for people with herpes, maybe even AIDS. So maybe there's one for HPV. Perhaps you should start with a pool of HPV positive people, as opposed to start with the general public, then inform them later you have HPV and have them leave you.

Either way, if you stay honest, and don't infect anyone (unless they love you so much they don't care), then you have my respect, and I hope everything turn out well for you.

I wouldn't worry about this very much. There are many differnet kinds of HPV, but the majority of sexually active people will eventually get HPV in their lifetime. Yes, it is that common.

Do more research. :)

I'll have to admit, I don't know my ABC's from STD's very well. I was thinking genital warts, based on the OP's post. But maybe this is something else?
