Back-story:

My ex and I broke up a while back. It was a horrid breakup. Now things have settled but there is definitely some tension left. A few days ago I had a work meeting and she happened to be there as well. I acted as though she didn't exist, and talked to other people. After the meeting she sends me a text message reading:

"Hey I meant to say hi at the meeting. Hope ur having a great semester!"

I was really surprised that she sent that since there had been a lot drama in the past and she had treated me quite badly.

I chose to ignore the text at first, assuming it to be another one of her "attention-seeking" tactics, but one of my friends suggested I be polite to her since she was as well. So, 2 days later I reply with:

"Thanks, you too :) "

I thought it was rather ridiculous to reply 2 days late, but I guess being polite is important.

I don't really understand why she would contact me, and although I would like to be friends with her, she can be very manipulative. I'm not sure how to proceed with this. Should I just drop it, or is there another path I can take?

Any help would be appreciated.

forget her, and why would you want to be friends with someone who treats you badly?
