Hules Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 (edited) Well I started the online dating thing about a month and a half ago been using OKcupid. Thought I would share my experiences so far been quite interesting, to say the least. When I first made my account I was more curious than anything else, wasn't looking for this to be a silver bullet or anything, Iv'e been single since September quite content been single atm but wouldn't turn down a relationship with a compatible person. So anyway at first I was contacted by quite a few girls most I wasn't interested in some I was. So this is my experience so far. Girl 1: She contacted me day after I made my profile, we chatted for about 5 days seemed to have a good conversation going, I ask her if she would like to talk on the phone. She drops off the face of the earth after that *next* Girl 2: Also contacted me I talk to her for a couple of days she suggests talking on skype. We talk on skype for a couple of hours then again later in the week I ask her if she would like to meet up for a coffee sometime in the next week. Lots of hemming and hawing making up excuses hows shes busy all day everyday for the next week. Doesn't offer any times so I assume shes not interested *next* Girl 3: First girl I contacted that replied back (contacted 3 others before this) very smart, cute little bit older than me but that doesn't really bother me. Have a pretty good conversation, then she starts telling me some very personal stuff (basically shes mentally unstable and a cutter) so I politely backed out of that one. *next* Return of Girl 2: So I stopped messaging her because I thought she wasn't interested she contacts me asking "whatsup and why I haven't been contacting her" (despite been so busy that she couldn't meet for coffee, shes been online every night for the last week). I politely reply that I got the impression she wasn't interested because she turned down my offer to meet up for coffee. She replies very matter of factly that she is interested but she is just getting out of a relationship and didn't want to rush things and just wanted to chat before meeting up pretty much demanded I talk to her on skype (I was under the impression she had been single for a while because well... she said that so I saw this as a massive red flag). I replied politely that I wasn't interested in getting involved with someone fresh out of a relationship (not interested in been a rebound guy, emotional tampon) and I had the impression that she had been single for a while from our prior conversations. Wished her luck for whatever she was looking for but I wasn't looking for the same thing. Got a lovely reply accusing me of been an ******* for leading her on and telling me to have a nice life, jerk. (I thought I was been polite replying, most people would just ignore *shrugs*). Girl 4: I contacted her, Been talking to her for the last week, smart I think shes cute, studying at the same university I attended. She lives locally (10-15 min drive from me) been talking to her on the phone for last few days and am meeting up with her tommorow for coffee! So this will be my first date from online dating, just hope it doesn't turn out to be one of those horror stories . So thats my experience so far, have talked to quite a few other people but they were all flakes/lier's and I wrote them off pretty quickly so not really worth mentioning them.
