I have to disagree that not many men wanting or preferring tall women than short men, in fact, I thought it was the other way around (men tend to gravitate to small, petite women)

What I get a kick out of is a short woman, that's like 5'3" or 5'4", caclulating their HEELS into their height.

"He must be taller than me...(and she throws in...) in my HEELS!"

I could probably call a woman less shallow or not shallow at all, or not as shallow, if she's a 5'10" tall woman herself that wants a taller man, makes more sense.

But if you're a short woman wanting a super duper tall guy, and you count your heels, thath woman is indeed VERY shallow.

ANother example, I like a woman who are large chested, but I don't discount a woman with a smaller chest, but women WILL rule out a man who doesn't meet her specifications exactly.

I see what you mean and I don't have any preferences when it comes to height. I would prefer them to be taller than me, yes, and "tall" in general is nice, but I have dated guys my height (I'm 5'2", without heels), and it doesn't bother me. But I know it bothers some women and I can understand why (I also understand why they add the heels, because usually when you go out somewhere nice, you wear heels, and if they want to be shorter than the guy they're with, that's definitely a factor to consider).

I guess I don't have many "specifications" and I certainly don't rule a guy out if he doesn't meet one of them. I think different things can be attractive... a nice complexion or eyes, a nice build, etc. I guess my one "specification" is weight... I definitely like in shape guys and would most likely rule out a fatty... if that makes me shallow, so be it. :o But my sister on the other hand likes "stocky"/ "bigger build" men who in my own estimation would be on the "chunky" or even "fat" side, but she likes it, so, I don't sit around thinking "she's dating a fatty"... I just think, well, we have different taste. On the other side of the coin, I don't like scrawny guys, but I have dated more scrawny guys than overweight guys. I guess I really haven't dated any very overweight guys and don't plan on it. I don't feel like this is the same thing as your "large-chested" specification example... but maybe it is. (shrug) Anyway other than weight... and even that I suppose I would make an exception for in the right circumstances... I have no specifications and like all kinds of different "types" so long as I find them attractive. And to me a lot of the time it's about their personality/charisma... it can make a guy attractive even if he's otherwise not so great looking. I don't like jerks/rude guys, or immature/obnoxious guys, and I *usually* don't like shy/reserved guys but if they're the mysterious, intellectual type and they can converse with me, then, I'm totally game, even though I tend to prefer the outgoing/charming, yet still 'nice" guy. (I'm definitely into "nice" guys way more than jerks... but at the same time, he can't be a pushover or a bad communicator.)

Hmm now I don't know if I'm totally picky or totally not picky! I'm confusing myself. Ha ha.

I thought similarly, but I still think it's a matter of taste. Catwalk models for example need to be at least ~6 feet(180cm) tall otherwise they don't even get through auditions. I've seen such a mass audition once. I found it to be really cruel and I didn't agree with the judges many times, they were so gung ho on the height of the models. Several times I felt like: "WHAT?! You're sending that girl home, are you blind? So what if she's one inch short of 6 feet, she blows the competition out of the water." It was brutal, crying girls seeing their dreams get shattered by sometimes half an inch.

I've got a friend that's a model, and I've written about fashion for years. The reason why is because they're intended to be human coat hangers. If they are an inch shorter, the dress will not hit the proper spot that the designer envisioned, and it throws off the whole look they're going for. Is it BS- yeah. But there is a weird purpose behind it all. (Warning: not saying I agree with it. Just saying the idea behind it.)

ahh this makes sense. it is about the women fitting the dress not the dress fitting the women. sad.

You can keep 'em. George Clooney is nice looking and all, but I LUUUUUUV short guys (I'm always telling my friends about my "bite-size guys"), and bald or shaved head is sexy! To the girls who don't like their British boys in the pub, send them to the US.

i believe the proper LS terminology is "compact hotness"

Yes. The attenuated elfen, long-limbed and body look is what they're shooting for so clothing falls in exactly the right way.

The sad reality is that not too many women are as tall or attentuated looking as models so fashion is created without women in mind.

Sweetie, almost all your posts are about this kind of thing. Why are you obsessed with it? Oh, you have an agenda? Are you just one of a handful of sockpuppets a certain person has on this website?

Maybe what the OP means is that there seem to be a lot of men out there who simply don't take care of themselves and clearly don't care about how they project themselves. You can't help short or bald, but you can help overweight and sloppy--I see so many men like this--ones that make you say EWWW! If a man was short, bald, and in shape, it would make a difference.

What's so hard about working out, eating well, getting a decent hair cut, and some decent clothes?

It does seem like the average height for men has decreased--is that possible? I'm 5'9" and would like someone at least my height (barefoot!) and have a hard time finding anyone. And I don't think a man who's 5'5" would be attracted to me.

I feel bad for you! I always find the tall dark and handsome and they always find me. Those others like baldies and such are always in my peripheral vision.

Where are all the in shape non sloppy amercian women? most of you are overweight

Define "dark". Do women mean dark skinned men with that? Or do they mean dark hair. And does brown hair fall in that category?

And what's considered tall? I'm 6'1 (185cm) with my shoes on. (Last time I measured I had my shoes on, sue me.)

I'm very petite so to be honest 5'8" is pretty tall to me. The shortest guy I would date is 5'6 probably. A lot of the guys I know who are 5'6" have amazing bodies and carry themselves well so they look taller. I'm only 4ft11" so 6 ft would be too tall for me!

Is it me or have these men vanished? i see allot of short fat bald men around:rolleyes:

Are all the tall handsome guys now concentrated in one city or do they not exist?

I just dont see many men whos appereance makes my heart skip a beat anymore:(

You sound very superficial.

A bit of a derailment, but you're very wrong here. I dated a model and she kept telling me how lucky she was that her agency never noticed she was actually 5'8-1/2 and not 5'9 - which is the cut off for catwalk models. None of the top models (Adriana Lima, Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosia, Irina Shayk, etc) are 6 feet tall or above. Unless you meant with heels?

Tall is over rated, anyone can be dark if they tan, and handsome is purely subjective. Some women think George Clooney is a God, I think he is anything but....

Yes, we live in Denver

Wait, I'm tall (6'1") and dark (not white). Can someone please tell me that I am not handsome so I don't have to move to Denver. I don't even ski for god-sakes!!!

On a side note, since when did handsome=skinny and with a full head of hair. Can a man not be fat, bald, and considered handsome?

I always thought that the dark in "tall, dark, and handsome" was meant to signify attitude not coloring.

Dark as in mysterious, dangerous, exciting.

Does it really mean women just prefer dark skinned guys?

The audition that I saw had 180 centimeters as a standard, which is 5'9" as you say. I wrote down 180cm as 6 feet, because I did a quick and rough conversion in my head. But I now used a calculator and it's 5'9" as you say. Mea culpa.

Girls have every right to have the preference of taller men who are taller than them even in their heels....but when I woman states that flat out in a dating profile, or tells me in person....that just SCREAMS insecurity in my perception.

My preference is to not date incredibly insecure women.

New technologies in health have preserved lesser, frail and week blooded inbreds like me who in the animal kingdom would of been eaten and beaten by pure blooded, stronger animals and not have my genes spread. Gradually these new cures and health practices will preserve more inbreds and frail bloods and the pure blooded, tall dark handsome type will be fading away.

Thank technology for this phenomenon(it's not always good) This world is getting uglier.

Technology is also the reason that the unemployment rate may never recover. It's remained above 9% for over 2 years now, and the reason is that as long as businesses can rely on technology then there's no point to hiring more people.

Why Technology over Labor?

-Support and maintenance contracts on technology are far cheaper than insuring employees and providing employee benefits.

-Far easier to train (configure, program) than to keep training new hires

-Intelligence and capabilities of the technology can be easily upgraded

-You can actually calculate, and depend on, the ROI (return on investment) of technology

-It's always doing what it's supposed to, doesn't slack off, doesn't take sick days, or need maternity leave

As long as business confidence in the economy continues to suck, they will continue to fall back on technology, and the longer they become used to operating their business this way, the more they will be come comfortable and standardized in this fashion. Labor is out, technology is in.
