Where did I say 'big' muscles?

he is also tall, fit and lean (9% body fat), with very well defined muscles - awesome arms, shoulders and legs and a very respectable six pack

Pretty much the same thing.

If awesome arms, shoulders and legs aren't big muscles then I don't know what is.

However, I'm surprised that an average man can't bench-press his own weight even once, but he can do a pull-up...

I can do a pull-up (palms facing away from me) but not a chin-up (palms facing towards me). I guess it's a slight difference in muscle groups, and since I do rock climbing I don't see much reward in developing muscles I'm not going to use - it's just extra weight to carry up the rock.

I'd rather stay slim, lean and active, just like the ladies like. ;)

What about a guy who's:

-6 feet tall

-196 lbs

-12% body fat

-Has decent looking abs, obliques, and a v-cut

-Proportionate body, so his whole body looks muscular/athletic

Always thought that was a good place to be. But never really thought of it as good genes. That seems to be the average?

Actually, not the same thing at all. When I said 'awesome' I meant 'in great shape' ie well defined. He's a long distance mountain/trail runner who also has a very physical job. As a result he's exceptionally fit, although he's never worked out in a gym in his life.

Runners are long and lean - 'big' he most definitely isn't.

Besides which, if you read my post, you'll notice that I said his great physique is just a bonus. Neither my exH, nor any of my exbfs has ever had a body that came close to his. It's important that a man looks after himself but having a six pack etc is definitely NOT a priority.

"Aww yea check out my bod babe." *kisses his arms as he flexes*:lmao::lmao:

Too much muscle on you can shrink your dick and lower your sexual performance level just like being overweight can.

That's a pretty ignorant statement.

My penis is fairly large and my sexual performance is through the roof cause of my increased cardiovascular health and muscular strength. Maybe you should stop making excuses and get to the gym?

I don't think you can ask what 'women as a whole' want in a guy. We have our standards sure, but I think there might be more variety of opinion in the female population over what constitutes hotness. I think the best you can probably do is gauge what a particular woman values in a man by what she seems to value in HERSELF.

Physically all I require in a man is that he have a handsome face and a healthy body. I have preferences for size, shape and color but it really doesn't matter all that much. This is to make up for the fact that I require someone who is in the top 10% for both kindness and smarts. :)

I disagree. With the extra weight comes more strength. Of course there comes a point where being too muscular and heavy can be detrimental in a sport like rock-climbing, but it never hurts to develop muscular strength. Additionally, increasing strength doesn't always mean an increase in muscle size or weight...

This movie was hilarious. Needless to say, I'd be pretty pissed with my wife for letting him get away with that.

Yes it was. Your penis post, made me think of the Yoga instructor, that is why I linked it.

Lol well I'm glad it made you laugh. My intentions were not to brag but rather to school people who makes excuses for their lack of physical activity. I hate ignorance with a passion.

Ok. To be perfectly fair - I knew an overweight guy who was an absolute marathon man in the sack. (And the gripe about the boring man with good equipment is a practically a classic.) I think the assumption that physical fitness has a direct correlation with one's skill as a lover is pretty misguided.

This is true. I once took a dance class, and the instructor was by all means, obese. She kicked all of our butts, she was fierce!

Personality and compatibility are actually more important to me than a super-fit body.

huge muscles are a turn off, personally. I am sexified by a guy with some muscle tone..long as he is fit and active and it shows in his tone and the spark in his eyes that active people have, I could care less whether he is skinny or more bulky, has a 6 pack or a slight belly.

I don't know about the six pack abs, but the fact that your avie is of beaker and you like cheeseburgers, makes you a star in my book.:laugh:

Agreed with all the above.

If I comment on a man's awesome arms, shoulders and legs I definitely do NOT mean that he has big weight-lifter muscles, as that is not what I'm attracted to. I would just be referring to muscle tone and definition. Long, lean muscle, not big bulk.

I have been with solid, stout guys, cut muscular guys, lanky and lean guys. I have dated men slimmer and shorter than myself, as I am six feet tall and have been described as Amazonian. I like wiry and quick and I also like big and bearlike. The buffest I'd be interested in is the swimmer's body-type. I far prefer lean and dapper to heavily muscled and bulky. I've found chubby men attractive, but only if they were pretty solid, not soft and marshmallowy. I find my husband attractive, he's active and fairly fit, tall and broad-shouldered but kind of lumbering and bearlike, not exactly a ripped Adonis physique, and he's got a little bit of a belly that I think is cute on him. He hikes and works out, but he also works long hours in a sedentary career and isn't afraid to indulge in good food and good wine, and he looks great to me. It doesn't hurt that he's got a seriously cute butt.
