moonlight123 Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Okay so I recently met this guy and got to know him at work for the last 2 months. I am 100% sure he is interested me because he has given me all the signs. I heard by word of mouth from 2 people that he has a girlfriend that lives in his country. I normally never believe what people say and I find out directly from the subject, but I feel like it must be true. I hear him on his cell with a female sometimes but it could be his mother/sister/cousin. I am hardly ever alone with him at work so I never got the chance to ask if he has a girlfriend. He has been giving me strong signs that he is into me but I usually respond in a lukewarm or cold way just because I'm unsure if he has a girlfriend and it would be WRONG to flirt back. I do not want to blurt out "do you have a girlfriend!?" in front of everybody. I also don't feel like asking around because I don't want people to gossip. I feel like if I gave him more signs he would probably ask me out on a date, but if he has a girlfriend I'm OBVIOUSLY not going to go for him. What should I do about this? How can I find out if he has a girlfriend for sure? I have his number but I feel weird calling him and asking him. I never get the chance at work to catch him alone either.
ShatteredReality Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Can you find some other work excuse to call him and then perhaps linger on the line, talk a bit and then bring up the g/f issue? Chances are he does have a girlfriend...but is he going to return to his country to be with her? Or bring her out to be with him? You would need to know what plans he's got...if he asked you out then that would probably be a rather private moment...in which case you could ask him if he had one...though he very well could lie at that point given he would be asking you out... Or, you could say it...even in front of someone...but not in an on the spot way...something like "Do you ever send your girlfriend flowers just because?? My friend got flowers from her boyfriend, but no special occasion or fight..." and see what he says? I am not good at dancing around things like that...I'd probably just ask, people around or not...say something like, "I heard you have a g/f .... do you? Is it tough to be so far away from her?"
