I'd interpret as (A).

Was there an incident in the past where he said he was picking you up at a certain time, and you weren't ready by that particular time?

I'm almost never late (barring emergencies), nor was I late this time. I was about fifteen minutes early. However, apparently, he wanted me to let him know as soon as I was free from my morning obligations (some parent conferences) and get together earlier. I had no idea, thought we were meeting at 4pm. I was driving over, so he wasn't picking me up or waiting on me (that I knew of). It was just a weird snafu. I had no idea he preferred earlier.

Interesting that this is pretty much mixed in terms of what people here would interpret. I think it's just one of those things. We usually communicate logistics via text, but, ironically, we did this over the phone (we do talk on the phone, but usually make plans via text). So I think it was just us not understanding each other in a 'new' media for this type of stuff.

I'd take it to mean your ass better be in the car by 4:01. :)

When my wife & I separated it was a WTF?!?! moment for people to see me pulling up with both my 1 & 3 yr old 10 mins. early.

Looking at their watches in disbelief.

I would lie to my wife about what time we needed to be somewhere because for some reason I could not comprehend she was in capable of walking out the door at the prescribed time.

I'd be sitting in the car with both kids waiting for her.

I'm not always on time.

But a lot of times i'm early or just a few mins. late.
