Why is there no empathy for bitter men?

Well AFAIC it doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman, I'll remind the rest of you again that there are no bitter elderly people in nursing homes. If more of us would call a spade a spade and stop playing Guess My Secret, there wouldn't be so many people on LS posting "boo hoo, I can't get a woman/man".

Guys, we need try to be a little less barbaric. Forget the beer, the 4 F's, and all crap there is, and make up your minds whether you want a real woman or a sex mannequin.

Ladies, you need to stop treating us guys like we can read your minds, because we can't. If you know what you want in a man, then you need to tell us in plain English.

Youre not supposed to be hesitant, because youre not supposed to spend "good" money on a woman you just met. Youre just supposed to get coffee.

Yeah. Seriously. I just want a couple of $3 gin and tonics and maybe a game of pool. Hell, I'D probably pay for the game of pool. Anything else is trying too hard.

There are plenty of bitter women. I really don't understand how people don't see that the hatred goes both ways.

Link to two threads started in the past week that were started by women expressing bitterness (not sadness or disappointment or anger at something that just went wrong in their relationship).

I tend to ignore bitter posts and just click onto another thread until I find something I want to post on. True equality lies with just getting on with things and acting equal - on both sides.

Depp.. you know exactly what you're doing in that picture.

What a tease..:cool::laugh:

Women don't tend to handle things in the same way. Plus the overall expectations on them are different.

The women who fall into this category are Like SACWA and Shadowplay and Leigh87. I consider those the female equivalents of the WayneBrady and Steve80 type guys.

Oh, come on: Shadow and SACWA have their issues, as do many people here, male and female, and as do we all at different times in our lives, but they're nowhere NEAR as one-note as WB or Steve80 AND they're actually writing about what happens in their lives, not hypotheticals. WB posts things about women based on watching movies and reading things on the internet . . . he's embittered without any experience. OG/SACWA used to post her own sordid dating life and its issues. The two are not equivalent at all.

Meh, if you want to be bitter OP, be bitter.

You're only hurting yourself in the end....

So enjoy!

I somehow missed this post

Leigh, SACWA and SP all internalized their romantic deceptions to the point of it leading to body dysmorphia for both Leigh and SP. They blamed themselves - not men. It's a far cry from some of the generalizations about women other members like to indulge in.

Do you really think you get no understanding or empathy here, Woggle? I think there is simply a limit to empathy, and (personally) my empathy for anyone who's bitter, for any reason, has limits --- I assume everyone is the same.

And, for the record, I don't think any sane person would suggest men should have no emotions. We do stifle male emotions too much, but men are as guilty of that as women, if not more, and it is getting better with every generation.

I have gotten plenty of understanding and sometimes I wonder why I get much more than the average man here when I admit I have made some pretty harsh statements in my darker moments.

I am mostly on my way to getting past the anger and this is the first time in a while I can truly feel confident of that. Therapy is doing me wonders but when I hear other man venting I just want to take them out for a few drink, hang out with them for a day and tell them it is going to be better. I just get frustrated when men who are in genuine pain are made out to be one dimensional woman haters.

I miss JerseyShortie :)

There was no ambiguity about her empathy for men. :D

Wogs, ask us not why:

"mama mama cant you see

what this corps hase done for me

put me in a barbers chair

snip snap and i had no hair

well if i die in a combat zone

box me up and send me home

put me in a set of dress blues

comb my hair and shine my shoes

put my pins upon my chest

tell my moma i did my best

oh mama mama dont you cry

marine corps moto is do or die"

In society, as in the Corps, men are expected to do or die without complaint. It's how both genders are socialized, historically. Perhaps that is changing. I had a father like that. Active duty soldier. Saw death, right in his face. His first wife left him while he was facing that and took his children. He internalized everything. Never complained. No one would ever think to call him bitter, simply because few people really knew him well enough to form an opinion on that aspect of his personality. Somehow, his DNA popped out me :D

I think part of it is that you've been very open about what you've been through and the abuses you suffered, whereas a lot of people keep it to themselves and just spew venom. I have a lot of empathy and sympathy for you for what you've been through. But I think more importantly you really do make an effort to move beyond it and heal, even though you hit some bumps along the way every so often. You don't really wallow in it and attack other people, even though you sometimes write offensive things.

I'm rooting for you, Woggle, because you strike me as a good person who just has a lot of demons to battle and who still reacts strongly to certain triggers. You're completely different from a person who has never dated or has barely dated but drops plenty of insulting, sexist drivel in almost every thread because they read something online once that fit their warped preconceived notions about what real life might actually be like. I don't have the time of day for that stupid BS, and it's a waste of time to even address it. I might as well start a conversation with a 5th grader about mortgages and interest rates.

I really am trying to get past it because I realize that simply being hateful is not the answer. Hatred never did anything positive. The scenarios that men like Steve80 and Waynebrady describe very much do exist but they are certainly not all women. When a man is going through it through it really does feel like that. During my divorce I felt like all of womankind was ganging up on me.

I just wish that men who obviously have been through hell would be understood more when they come here to vent. A person in the midst of going through it is usually not thinking clearly.

But then they have to SAY that they've been through hell and talk about their specifics rather than spew out generally worded gender characterisations. If they just keep writing 'all women are [insert whatever negative and repeat twenty times]', no one who reads is going to know what they've been through and it puts people off. It's about HOW you vent, not that men who vent are not met with understanding. I see new posts EVERY DAY where men are met with a whole lot of understanding.

Women want to be treated like Princesses, be worshipped and have the man put in all the effort, And any man who dares to critizise this attitude among women get labeled as a misogynist... Then they wonder why some men might actually become bitter

The patience people may have once had was kind of taken up with every thread of yours Woggle. With every little journey those sosuave idiots decide to take over here to troll the site and cause trouble.

When people that probably genuinely need help came along, the people that would have helped and been understanding had already left this forum.

My questions is: Where are the bitter women? Do I just not notice them?

Women don't really have anything to be bitter about as far as dating and relationships are concerned.

You mean no woman was ever stood up, ever slept with a guy only to never hear from him again, ever been cheated on, ever been jerked around by a commitmentphobe? You mean men who feel entitled, or that women are only walking vaginas, don't exist? Where do you live? We should all move there!

But people like waynebrady are kind of one-dimensional. He's admitted he's never even been on a date! You get more empathy because your issues with bitterness come from life, not from watching TV.

I've never been on a date, either. The difference is that I'm not that bitter.

It's easy to get bitter, though, because of rejection. Sometimes you just gotta keep your head up and keep on smiling, even when the world kicks you.

That's because he's a troll, and people take the bait literally every. single. time. I wish people would ignore him instead of giving him more and more attention. It clutters and derails threads. He may as well be saying, "And that's because women are aliens from Mars trying to infest the human population and take over Earth!"
