sarah1268 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 It's my bf's 21st this weekend, and he's been trying to guess what I have brought him. He knows I've spent a lot of money and he actually said 'I'm nervous about what you have got me, what if i don't like it?' which has got me thinking, the gift I got him is actually a 10 day holiday in Bail for both of us over semester break. I originally thought it was a really romantic fun idea, but it because I've got myself a ticket do you think its a selfish present? I cant help but think people will assume I only got him this present for my benefit too. What do you think? how would you feel if you got a holiday for two for your 21st??
musemaj11 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 As long as you paid for it, its a gift. Bali is awesome. Are you guys Australians? Your bf is gonna love it.
cerridwen Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 It doesn't come off as self-serving at all! Someone took me on a cruise for college graduation and it was spectacular. It never once crossed my mind that he did it for his benefit. A trip to Bali for my 21st?! Yes please!
xpaperxcutx Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 My mom got me a dog- but she saw and loved him first... does that make it selfserving for her? Anyways, a trip is a grand gift, and you guys are going to Bali. Don't grieve and just enjoy your time together.
Author sarah1268 Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 Well I not long surprised him with the holiday. I got an 'oh that's mad thanks babe!' and within 10 minutes he was back to playing video games. Not quite The response I was after. Its taken me months and still haven't paid it off. I'm no angry just disappointed I really wanted it to be special. Never make that mistake again!

I love to travel so I would really appreciate such a gift. On a sidenote though, you shouldnt get yourself into debt just for a vacation. Thats financially reckless.
