tigressA Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Yellow Corvette Guy is now BF. And you won't believe what he bought me for V-Day...
Author tigressA Posted February 15, 2011 Author Posted February 15, 2011 No, not that. He bought me a Kindle. I didn't think it would be anything anywhere near that. I know they're not nearly as expensive now as when they debuted, but it's still a rather pricey gift, particularly since we met so recently (it's been less than 2 weeks). It was super-thoughtful though. He said he thought of it as soon as he first came into my room and saw my bookshelf. I said, "You are ridiculous!" and "You're so sweet" and "Thank you" about a hundred times each. There was also a little bag of candy, and two cards. I said, "Two cards?! Typically there's only one!" He said, "Well, I saw one that I thought fit very well, but then I saw another one and thought I should get both."
aerogurl87 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 He sounds very promising, hopefully you two will have a long, fulfilling, and loving relationship with one another
Author tigressA Posted February 15, 2011 Author Posted February 15, 2011 He sounds very promising, hopefully you two will have a long, fulfilling, and loving relationship with one another Thanks, Aero. He's one of the sweetest guys I've ever dated. At one point tonight he was running his fingers through my hair and got caught on a nasty tangle. He got behind me and in a little while he had fixed it with virtually no pain. He's very affectionate and he does the little gentlemanly things like walking me to my door after pulling into the driveway instead of just saying goodbye in the car. Our date tonight didn't go exactly as planned. Once we set foot in his place we could hardly keep our hands off each other, so we just ordered food instead of cooked. And we didn't watch much of the movie I brought. It was still a lovely time as usual. I'm so excited to spend the weekend with him.
northstar1 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Congrats, but am I the only one who finds it a bit alarming that a guy you've known less than 2 weeks buys you a Kindle?
Mrlonelyone Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Congrats, but am I the only one who finds it a bit alarming that a guy you've known less than 2 weeks buys you a Kindle? Yes it is weird that you would be alarmed by that. It's a perfectly natural part of the progression of a relationship to give extravagant gifts at the beginning. It means you like eachother. Plus if this man makes good money about $150 on a kindle is not allot of money when you make say... 75,000 a year.
Kamille Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Fun! What great Valentine's day news! Hurray YCG! May the no-time-to-cook evenings live long!
oaks Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Yellow Corvette Guy is now BF. :bunny: Yay! Great news!
oaks Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 how many is she scewing on the side? Try not to be a jerk in every thread you join.
bayouboi Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 until she screws him over. i wouldnt give a kindle so early. Like someone else pointed out about his income, buying a kindle to this guy might be like buying a drink to another guy.
bayouboi Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 its a stupid idea and shell expect her own corvete in a month. tehn screw more on the side. then dump him cause she in love but doesnt love him Maybe, maybe not. If he lets himself get taken like that, though, then he's the sucker and he'll likely become bitter like the rest of us. Either way, who cares.
Cee Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Congrats, Tigressa. It sounds like you have a good guy there. I think a Kindle is an original gift and modern of him. Giving a book to someone is a good gift, but he thought ahead and gave you the gift of many books to come. I'm so impressed by my new BF and how thoughtful he is. So I can appreciate your stories. Isn't it nice to be with someone where there is no drama and doubts?
Author tigressA Posted February 15, 2011 Author Posted February 15, 2011 Fun! What great Valentine's day news! Hurray YCG! May the no-time-to-cook evenings live long! Cheers to that! I was really taken aback by the gift...Mrlonelyone made the point that it probably wasn't much to him, and I'd have to agree. From what BF said, he was just being thoughtful and not trying to impress. I will tell him that while I really appreciate his generosity toward me and that I love the Kindle, I would prefer he not spend so much on me from now on. I would've said it last night but I didn't want to come across as unappreciative. I really like just being with him. Yes Cee, it is so, so nice.
Duckduckgoose Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Does he have any friends my age? Or close? I'm 27;) I don't want a kindle... maybe a Honda CR-Z instead
Star Gazer Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Congrats, but am I the only one who finds it a bit alarming that a guy you've known less than 2 weeks buys you a Kindle? No, you're not... It's a little much, but his explanation explained away my reservations.
Confusedalways Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Wow, this is awesome! And to think you almost turned him down, almost like D did with her man. Makes me wonder what kind of stuff people are missing out on for turning down potentials. I hope you keep us updated, I love reading about it. Glad it is working out well for you!
Mme. Chaucer Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I am very happy for you, and I am sure you look amazing riding shotgun in the Vette.
Author tigressA Posted February 15, 2011 Author Posted February 15, 2011 Thanks, all. I'm really happy. Even with the Kindle, I'm not really worried about things moving "too fast". Nothing about how things have been going suggests that it's over-the-top. He's complimentary, but it's sincere. It's not dramatic crap like instant L-bomb or "I can see forever with you" drivel or countless pet names. It's simple, sweet and personal. The only fly in the ointment is that BF is so totally unlike my ex, C (in all the best ways) that it makes me think of him. It's a slight annoyance, but I'm just focusing on the one I have right in front of me.
Jannah Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 He drives a corvette and a relationship in two weeks..... He likes to go fast, eh? I am happy that you are happy, enjoy it, but keep those daytime running headlights on.
