question is, has anybody been broken up with by their SO in order for their So to start a relationship with an obvious downgrade?

if so, do you think thats worse than if it was for somebody who can be said to be an upgrade?

Happens to people all the time. Happened in my previous relationship before I met my stbxH.

They can't handle a Lexus so they get a Kia instead.

No no no you got it all wrong.

It's like driving a Lamborghini then trading it in for a smart car. A smart car isn't something you want to be seen in!

I have. He sits at an army base playing video games most of the day. He is out of shape and overweight despite being in the military, short, already a noticeably declining hairline at 21, but apparently he was a real catch despite having no long term goals and no interests beyond my ex girlfriend. I am the complete opposite of him and I don't know, I almost would have rather her leave me for an older more attractive man further along in life because it made me feel like he was better than me. They are still together after a few months but my ex is starting to come to her senses and trying to get me back.. No way in hell hahah

Physical innate traits shouldn't be taken as "shortcomings"... the way I see it, being short doesn't make anybody less than you...

I have. She left me for a guy who looks like he never bathes and looks like an STD carrier. Not to the mention the worst mutton chops I've ever seen.

Personally, I've moved on and am with someone else right now. If the day comes that I'm single again and she is, and she wants another chance I'll consider it.

I caught her in bed with the worst smelling human being I have ever come across. The sheets just reeked of his odor. When I think about it though she was not much a catch either so she cheated on her level. People need to think of it like that.

yeah, its certainly strange and probably the worst way to break up.

my ex, whom i showered with love, and spoiled in every way, ran off with some loser, who is tatooed up, smokes pot, has no job, lives with his mom at 24 yrs old, is a "wigger" and going no where(her words).

mind you, i did nothing but love this girl, who was very insecure, in fact, she would tell me almost everyday, that she felt as if she wasnt as good as me, and that she felt inferior. This would dumbfound me, but in the end, it was true.

shes 20, im 21. we go to school together, and we were in a relationship for 2 years. she failed out of college, and i got her accepted back in. in 7 months, i will be attending a top 30 law school, while she will presumably be smoking pot and watching family guy with some low life. good riddance.

she is now trying to flirt her way back in, but she does not what whats coming. i lived her more than anything, and i got betrayed for an utter loser.

Wow, I think were both living the same life.

She left me for someone who was 2 years younger, dropped out of high school, smoked/dealt drugs and is in rehab for it (he's 18). Lives with his grandma cause his mom left him and he never met his dad. Oh and he doesn't drive because he got his license taken away cause of legal issues.

And as for me....HAH...... bitch I'm an engineer!

Sorry buddy meant no offense. She just always told me she had a thing for tall guys and this guy is pretty close to being shorter then her.

I think it's much better to handle if they downgrade, imagine them leaving your for someone model perfect and you have to imagine them having that sex!! Not that this has ever happened to me, both my main ex's are now with right munters.

yea man, its a terrible feeling at first isnt it? thanafter a while, you start to laugh a bit about it, in an "are you serious?!" type of way, lol. like, i see my ex at school a lot, as she always tries to come and talt to me/sit next to me, and in her babbling/probing into my life, she just keeps letting more and more embarrassing details out, which she notices immediately, and starts shutting up. like how yesterday she let slip that her parents see him for what he is, a loser, and they dont even know about his drug habits, tattoos, etc.

some girls are just not ready for a man, so they run to a child. not in the literal sense, as the kid is 3 yrs older than me(im 21), and he lives at home with his mom, while im on the exact opposite track as this loser. but whatever. its her problem now.

Well, he didn't LEAVE me for her, but he nearly cheated with her. We live 90 miles apart, and she is 10 min away.

She is his ex gf, who he NEVER loved, is 6 years older than me and 9 years older than him. She came back around, using a car favor as an excuse to see him and lured him sexually. I guess she was the "queen of BJ's". Well........he took her out twice, kissed her, sexted her......

We are apart, bc he did this. He still wanted to be with me, said she seemed desperate (what did that make HIM?) and that he would not be with her even if he was not with me.

He would only apologize for the texting, insisted nothing happened but kissing and would not say he was going to cut contact with her/block her/or that it wouldn't happen again.

So..........I hope she fulfills him, bc I can't be in a relationship where I am disrespected. Gee, I can get a man right here who would cheat on me, why have one 90 miles away?

Depp......explain this.....both my main ex's are now with right munters.

I don't know much about the guy I was dumped for. But, in defense of those of us that still share a household with the parents and have something going for them, I have to say that I'm a full-time student and employee. As a Legal Assistant (fancy word for male secretary among other things lol) I make decent money for my age. I do pay rent, and I'm able to save for Law School.

\Rant lol

Ohh at first it sucks. But then it starts to get better. I told my ex that maybe I'll see her in the future with her new bf. She can pump the gas in my Bentley and he can wash my windows :D.

Of course I said this before I burnt everything she gave me and sent her pictures of me doing it. Only things I kept were a really nice watch that she got me for my birthday and a straight edge shaving kit. I just had to wash away all the skank from them first!

Hilarious!

Once I was super heartbroken over this guy who'd left me for someone else. What I thought was funny, and incredibly irrelevant, was that everyone was trying to comfort me by saying: "You're so much prettier than her".

Personally, I believe connection can trump a great many superficial traits.
