Stung Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 So how was/is your Valentines day? Anything you want to share? I've been getting Valentines cards, but always without a name for some years now. Today I heard my mailbox go "click-klack", so I'm guessing, this is either the mail man or a girl/woman dropping in a card. So I looked out of the window and sure enough, there was a girl on a bike racing away like her life depended on it. However I could only see her from behind. She looked kind of young (I'm 29), almost like in her teens, but she might also have been in her early twenties, I don't know, couldn't see that from behind. She had curly hair and wore a short skirt with tights under them and sheepskin boots which I think are called UGGs. The card said: "I love you" on the outside and "a silent admirer" on the inside. The thing is, I have never seen this girl (before) in my life or haven't noticed her around and she looked fairly young from behind, which puzzles me, because that means it couldn't have been a colleague, a former class mate from high school or a fellow student back from university. Although I can't be sure, because I only saw her from behind. I'm single and open for a relationship I guess, but for that I would first have to get to know her and fall in love with her. And I can't do that if I don't know who she is. The day isn't over yet, so I have no idea what else might happen. So how was your day or how is it progressing? Every Valentine's Day for three years in a row somebody left a whole pineapple on my doorstep along with an unsigned card festooned with hearts that said only, "Secret Admirer". The first year I threw it away, reluctant to eat it due to potential tampering. The next two years I walked on the wild side and ate the pineapple. It was fresh and delicious. I never found out who put it there or what it was supposed to symbolize. After three years, I moved to a different country. Bye bye, Mysterious Pineapple Valentine.

oaks Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Still... you made it longer than me. I did the ab ripper. Kicked ass at work. And responded to a few online emails. I did some of that, too. Well, sending emails, not responding since that would suggest someone actually sent me one! Was doing fine until the pretty girl at the burrito stand asked me where my Valentine was. "I don't have one." "But you're too pretty not to have one." Made me feel good until I thought about it. Why are girls such emotional suckers on Valentine's Day? That's a cute story.
Mme. Chaucer Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I came home from running errands yesterday to find my boyfriend (who had a hip replacement recently and is only ambulatory on crutches, and can't drive) on the riding mower, mowing the lawn. He told me that he did it for me for Valentine's Day. Was that stupid of him (for his recovery, I mean), was it sweet? It certainly wasn't romantic, and I was perfectly fine with not having the grass cut in February. For heaven's sake, it snowed last night. I think the pain meds have affected his mental equilibrium. My emotional response ... "alarmed."
