So how was/is your Valentines day? Anything you want to share?

I've been getting Valentines cards, but always without a name for some years now. Today I heard my mailbox go "click-klack", so I'm guessing, this is either the mail man or a girl/woman dropping in a card. So I looked out of the window and sure enough, there was a girl on a bike racing away like her life depended on it. However I could only see her from behind. She looked kind of young (I'm 29), almost like in her teens, but she might also have been in her early twenties, I don't know, couldn't see that from behind. She had curly hair and wore a short skirt with tights under them and sheepskin boots which I think are called UGGs.

The card said: "I love you" on the outside and "a silent admirer" on the inside.

The thing is, I have never seen this girl (before) in my life or haven't noticed her around and she looked fairly young from behind, which puzzles me, because that means it couldn't have been a colleague, a former class mate from high school or a fellow student back from university. Although I can't be sure, because I only saw her from behind.

I'm single and open for a relationship I guess, but for that I would first have to get to know her and fall in love with her. And I can't do that if I don't know who she is. The day isn't over yet, so I have no idea what else might happen.

So how was your day or how is it progressing?

That's very interesting and mysterious. I hope that she doesn't end up cutting you up into tiny little pieces at some point...that is unless you're into that sort of thing.

I got dumped today. . . . . . .

I'm in a LDR, so we celebrated Valentine's on Saturday. Flowers, candy, gift, nice dinner. It was a good day. Today I got an email wishing me a Happy Valentine's day.

No card, so he dodged that bullet, lol! So hard to know what to say in a new relationship. We haven't reached the "I love you" stage yet.

This is my first Valentine's Day without my late husband, so I'm a little bummed and having some mixed emotions.

Nexus - very cool on the secret admirer! If she was very young, perhaps she was delivering the card for someone else?

For what it's worth, I'm sorry. :(

This is my first Valentine's Day without my LTR ex in over 10 years, but I'm actually doing okay surprisingly. I'm not 'happy happy joy joy' but I'm also not feeling down.

Nexus - agree with Jazzari, the girl you saw might have been just the messenger.

I'm doing great. After my separation (and subsequent divorce), I've spent Valentine's Day alone every year. So this isn't the first time this has happened. Even a lot of them when I was married were spent alone.

Last night I was feeling a little bummed about a recent relationship that didn't work out. A friend of mine posted some pics on Facebook of some chili she made. It looked delicious, and I have a lot of friends that are excellent cooks, and it made me wish we could all get together and om nom. And then I realized, why not?! I formed a dinner club, we're gonna meet once a month and have a different theme, which brings it up to 2 weekends a month where I'm doing stuff with awesome groups of people. New people will come into the group, so I may meet someone that way, and I know that a guy I kind of have a mini-crush on is a great cook, so maybe I'll be bold and invite him to participate. But I'm literally planning a monthly dinner party for 20+ people, and I'm loving it. I mean, I get to be surrounded by people I'm crazy about, have good food and wine, and hilarious conversation...

The dinner won't happen tonight, but something to look forward to makes me happy.

That sounds awesome! What a lovely idea. :)

Nexus, I hope you find out who the cards are coming from. You should do a little detective work. Maybe ask your neighbors if they know that girl? It's pretty thrilling to have a secret admirer.

My V-Day gets kicked into gear in the evening. We're eschewing the commercial pressure to go out on the town and spending a night in cooking dinner together.

I'm afraid that my Valentine's Day will be a non-event. The man in my life seems to pride himself on not participating in "socially mandated" celebrations. He also had an ex wife who was extremely high maintenance and demanding about "special" days and the extravagant gifts she wanted to receive on them, so he is a bit burned about it.

I mostly consider VD to be a "Hallmark" day driven by commerce, but I sort of feel like actively blowing it off is just as dumb as rabidly buying into the whole deal. He gets a special break today since he had a total hip replacement less than 3 weeks ago and he can't really go shopping (or, have sex!). But, I would have appreciated some kind of token gesture. I am still giving a little gift to him.

I have a girlfriend whose birthday is today, Valentine's Day. She's throwing a pot luck party at her place. About a dozen people are showing up and we are going to eat, play Pictionary, and maybe watch a movie.

I'm bringing my new boyfriend along, but I'm not buying him a card or anything. And I don't expect him to do the same. But I want him to meet my friends.

I'm going to buy a card and gift for my girlfriend because I love her so much.

This is turning into a great day.

I'm going to do something nice for my mom. :S

I thought I had a secret admirer too when I saw a heart-shaped card in the window of my car. Apparently, someone thought it would be a good idea to sell sofas with 20% off on this day...

I was multi-dating, and got down to just 1, but she went into hiding. Rather than stay on my own this evening I'm going climbing with some friends.

Nope, not into it.

That's quite possible. Except the fact that she raced away in a "I should not be seen" kind of manner has me doubting. This certainly wasn't a professional mail delivery service, just a girl on a bike trying to get away as fast as she could. No further mail bags on her bike, casual clothes kind of like this but with a different color scheme: http://tinyurl.com/4mxxngn (I mean only the clothing, not the girl in the photo)

I'll be on the lookout for girls that are wearing those clothes in my area. The problem is that a large percentage of girls in my area dress like that.

Although that outfit looks kind of cold for this time of year doesn't it? I'm guessing she lives nearby and just hopped on her bike, dropped off the card and went back home. (I don't remember her having a coat on)

No valentines here.

Did alot of little chores, went to the gym, gave myself a nice essential oil salt bath with incense.

Posted

Mostly celebrated it yesterday... GF and I went cross country skiing, enjoyed a bottle of wine, a great dinner, a jacuzzi bath, and some head spinning-ly awesome sexy-time (Borat voice)...:p

Today, went to work, going to the gym, etc. Business as usual for the most part!

Could have been a friend of hers. Girls tend to get together and giggle about it before pulling these types of adventures. :p

That is weird Nexus. Be wary when you go out! ;):p

I got flowers from my man. And he got me my favourite instead of boring roses. I'm glad he made the effort, he's very sweet.:bunny:

Oh and my doc told me I may have gallstones. When there is good, there is bad...

Spent all weekend in her appartment and had an awesome time! Exchanged some "happy valentine" sillyness on skype today, nothing more (it was only the second date).

Really think I found my soulmate this time! (haahaha, how many times I said this before, so let's wait and see... :-))

Anyway, it feels so f***ing good to have someone to cuddle and watch movies with and stuff since all the nasty heartbreak a couple months ago. onwards!

Gallstones, oye. My cousin had those and had to have her gall bladder removed when she was 25...Then again, she is a Type 1 diabetic since age 13 and always has something wrong with her insides. :(

Whoever she is, when I see her (while being fairly sure it was her), I'll approach her and say "Hey", watch her reaction and start a conversation.

I'll keep that in mind. Don't want to run into one of these: http://tinyurl.com/4kegxyy
