LifesBeachy Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I sure have.. And not exactly BO -- the two guys I met smelled....distinct. One smelled like burnt eggs and the other creamed corn. ..And I just couldn't get over it! Had to call those off. .

These men showered and were very clean cut. The conclusion I have drawn was that my animal brain picked up their specific pheremones and didn't like it. I dated both men anyway and put up with the smell. One of the men commented that he could smell me too from a distance after we started dating. If someone could solve this medical mystery, I would love it. It's puzzled me for years. What is that smell anyway???

Science shows that women are repelled by men whose body odor reflects a similar Histocompatibility. This is most likely a biological imperative for women to seek out mates with Immune systems very different from their own so as to provide their offspring with the largest possible range of immunities.

Back in the days that Discovery channel still had a majority of quality programs they did a test and had women smell t-shirts of men that wore it for 3 days and hadn't showered. Except the women did not know who the shirts belonged to. However it turned out that the t-shirts of the men that were most attractive also smelled best to most women, so yeah it very well could be a pheromone thing.

The 2 guys you mentioned...sound like they have yeast infections. yes, men get them too. When someone smells bad, even bad breath, it can be a sign of a health problem. Lol and think like a man...No man would ever date a woman who smelled like fish!

Have you ever noticed how some people smell like their house (or rather, their house smells like them)? Some people will like a person's smell and other people will be turned off by it. However, funnily enough people seem to agree that certain individuals have an unpleasant smell. I went to school with a girl who had this weird sort of booger smell on her breath, and everyone agreed that she smelled unpleasant. I bumped into her a couple years ago and she still smelled the same, so it wasn't just kids being cruel. I don't know why some people smell universally bad and others smell universally good, while others smell good or bad to different people. Any scientists here who can enlighten me?
lexaton Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 About 7 years ago I was dating this guy. He would always smell like abercrombie fitch but when we kissed one time I swear he tasted like dog food. (The wet kind) It was so sick. Still until this day I think of him as dog breath boy.

There was this guy who was the hottest boy ever, plus he was also very nice and into me. But, when I came close to him, well, he smelled like ... cat piss! Then there was another boy, who was kind and okay looking, but couldn't decide if I could be attracted .... Oh boy, when I smelled him! My nose told me YEESSS!

Hot guy, unpleasant feral sort of smell even when he was freshly showered.

sigurpol Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Hahaha, funny how so many people can agree on this. I've had this happen to me.. once? Maybe more. But one time sticks out for sure. My friends set me up with this one girl their knew who thought we'd get along. We did, had a lot in common and she was super cool and extremely attractive. One of those, "what does she see in me?!" kinda situations. The one day, we got some lunch and made a day out of just hitting up small shops around this one area of town. At one point, she wanted to go to the bookstore nearby. We got there, and split up for a moment while walking to our own sections of interest. After 10 minutes or so, I went to go look for her, and found her in one of the isles. I poked my heard over her shoulder and asked if she found anything she liked, she leaned back into me and was pointing out stuff she liked.. and then it hit me. This.. smell. Hahaha. WHAT IS THIS?! NO idea what it was and it was the first time it hit me. I thought maybe someone else walked by and left some trail? But no. All her. I just couldn't do it after that and the whole thing fizzled out. He'd have showered and be in his boxers and I could smell his butt through them. I'd be thinking, "Don't you wash your butt?! Can't you smell what I'm smelling?" But apparently that was just his "own scent." Glad that guy is gone.

One guy that I dated had this... wild, musky smell about him. It wasn't a BAD smell, just one that my nose didn't like. I could never get used to it! The guy I got along with the best smelled like pine trees and snow. I wished I could bottle his scent.
