Cosmo Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 (edited) Hi there, I created a profil a few months ago on fb, but soon after that, i got a lot of friend request from people i knew (how did they find me? it's a mystery), i accepted everyone, but i got fed up with some of them and decided to delete my profil by using a link that stated it will definitly delete my profile, cool it's done. Now i want to join again but don't want to get all those friend requests, i want to be invisible, so i'll decide who to add. Don't just say "ignore them" that won't be ok, as same people i see in real life may take it badly :/ Another thing, i want to use the same e-mail address, don't have time to create another one, plus i want to manage 1 email account, not 2. ShatteredReality Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Use the Privacy settings - you can set it so no one can find you. And don't let Facebook invite your friends from your e-mail acct that you link it too...cause otherwise you will get all those requests again.
Author Cosmo Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 And don't let Facebook invite your friends from your e-mail acct that you link it too...cause otherwise you will get all those requests again. thanks for your reply, but i don't see how to deny facebook to invite friends from e-mail ? i can't find the option... or did you mean "don't give fb your email account and password when it asks" , i didn't do it, not even the first time.
ShatteredReality Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Yeah - I meant don't give it your e-mail PW ever. Ever. Or it will use that to send messages to your whole address book.
Author Cosmo Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 ok, fine, but if some people have given their email password, won't facebook find that i had exchanged e-mails with them, and assume i know them and then put my profil on their suggested friend list ? lol; i knw i'm analyzing too much
ShatteredReality Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 No - it might put their info on your site, but not the other way around - not if you have all your info blocked.

They find you using email addresses and Facebook "suggest a friend" feature. Some people take FB way too seriously and deleting them causes RL drama. Are you sure your profile is deleted? Really sure? Cause I will tell you now, deleting you FB account is actually quite hard. So are the privacy settings which are a jungle. You may be best off creating a new email address - you can easily link two email accounts so your mail only comes to one. Plus if you have the same email account as before, anyone who has that email can find you on FB. You have to remember FB is all about networking. Connecting anyone you ever met and they encourage sharing everything. In addition, the culture of FB is everything out in the open so to be truly anonymous with only the people you want to be friends with, start from scratch, that includes a brand new email.
