wbr4p Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 im sorry about the topic, i was just wondering though if anyone has noticed their parent/grandparent/older sibling become an ******* as they grow older. my dad worked away from home a lot when i was a kid, and when he was with us we always have fun. my sister and i looked forward to him coming home and we would always have meals together. in fact i was bedridden for a month when i was 14 and he was caring for me and not my absent mom (thats a different story) anyway fast forward to now he is retired, my mom doesnt want to live with him. they didnt divorce but they are on seemingly amicable terms. im living in our old house because nobody else is here. i just finished school and just waiting for some school papers. anyway he is so goddamned rude, just open the door and not knock..i was away for a month and he told me i got very fat (even though i didnt get fat) is that something u would tell someone who u havent seen in a long time? just a while ago he looked inside my room and gave me a bad look saying stuff about my hips ..i havent eaten well in about 3 weeks and was happy i lost about 10 lbs . i have plans to go to the gym this week to tone up. i just had boiled egg for lunch and i got 1 small candy (a kisses) to take off the bitter taste in my mouth and he screamed that is fattening that is fattening do u wanna be fat? to clarify it im 5'2 -121 lbs. i was depressed for a couple of months last year and i am awake now and willing to improve. i just realize im the only one here, my mom left him, my sister isnt here..nobodys here. nobody can stand him. is this normal for an old person to act like a total jerk? ive been harboring slight hate for him ebcause of how he treats me/talks to me. he by the way thinks that what he says is just what he says and "no bad feelings".
worlybear Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 In answer to your question-yes. I am much older than you and my Mum who is in her late 70s is unbelievably rude to me and my family. She makes personal remarks about my appearance(and I always make sure that I look tidy and smart) and has been obnoxious to my daughters about clothing and hairstyles. When I have given her photos of the kids in the past, she has criticised the pictures, so I don't bother anymore! I have had several run-ins with her and she gets very defensive and says that she is allowed to say what she likes and that she is always right as she is old....ermm...no! I don't know if there's a right way to deal with this attitude- I tend to just ignore her as much as I can. Being old is no excuse for being rude! Yiu are not alone!:bunny:
