I find Tucker Max to be quite the amusing storyteller, if lacking in the human decency department. However, there is something to be said about the honesty with which he speaks about himself. Many of those stories do not paint him in the best light and he openly admits to being an easily bored attention whore.

I agree with you here. I'm sure many men wouldn't want to be bros with him, but I doubt very many guys wouldn't want him in their corner when it came to going out and partaking in the debauchery...or conning women into sex, which seemed to be his sole purpose in life...

Yea, I read that the movie was awful. I would never go as far as to adopt his particular approach, because let's face it, this guy is just an assh*le. And I would never consume that much alcohol on a regular basis (gotta keep the girlish figure...) But it just gets me thinking about that that particular phase of life that many men go through that I sort of never got to experience.

That is all.

It reminded me of the movie Hang Over, except, the Hang Over was much better. The bathroom scene, was especially disturbing.:eek:

WOW , just googled him(still can't believe I never heard of him) and found the absinthe donut story - I am half way done and in tears from laughing so hard. Horrible.

I have a problem with someone even buying that book - supporting that vile existence in any way is amoral. Sorry, just my two cents.

Seriously. Why anyone would feel jealous of not having experienced what he did is just...beyond me.

I find him hilarious - you just take it with a grain of salt.

I also admire his brutal honesty and love that he acknowledges what a warped prick he is even while celebrating the very fact. Similiar to Russell Brand.

The women on here would never, NEVER, NEVER!! go for a guy like Tucker Max. If they say so then it must be true. We all see the great choices they make in their love lives already too...

(Rhymed... :) )

As long as there is a woman willing to put up with guys like this, there will always be guys like this.

I have a friend who was exactly like this for years until recently. There was always at least one woman in the club willing to go home with him. The trick was finding her. Comedy gold for the rest of us, though.

It's not just that some women put up with it, it's that some are actually drawn to it...

And ladies, at any point in your life, did these types of alcohol saturated douchemuffins actually appeal to you? Favorable...?

Never. Not even when I was into clubbing and pubbing. In my experience, drunk, obnoxious and foolish are looks that don't tend to wear well on men (or women).

When I was young, thirty-some years ago, there were plenty of guys my age passed out in a puddle of beer with a football game blaring on TV. I was not tempted and did not envy them. I have no regrets.

Of course, I was smoking pot and making animated films. I don't regret that either.

One of my good friends and I have coined the term "predatory mindset" for the approach used by Tucker, where he predates the weak and insecure women, much like a lion in the savannah would hunt down the slow or crippled antelope. It seemed to work for him...

So gents, have you ever lived such a life? Did you find it favorable? And ladies, at any point in your life, did these types of alcohol saturated douchemuffins actually appeal to you? Favorable...?

Just curious...

Oh, I suppose there was something appealing about them when I was in high school. The brash recklessness afforded them for being male was a rite of passage denied young girls. So there was perhaps a year or two window where I lived vicariously through them. But of the fellas like this I took a fleeting interest in, it lacked that something extra that I would have stuck around for. Then I realized I didn't give a frig about what anyone had to say about me being a bit reckless myself. What was appealing about them was never about how often they were able to make a mockery of naive girls tho, just that they got away with exciting stuff along the way.

Unfortunately, people don't need to exhibit obvious signs of being a "douchemuffin" to BE a douchemuffin. ;)

The Savannah analogy doesn't quite fit. Sickly antelopes NEED to be taken down to cull the genetics of the herd. With humans, however, being naive isn't a genetic condition so much as a stage of life. Its the predatory person who seeks out a naive person exhibiting the sickness and OH, how quickly it infects those around them! Maybe we should start taking them out of the mix?

I think most people encounter a few Tucker Max types in their youth. I remember guys who were like that. The more happy-go-lucky, good-natured ones can be a lot of fun provided you don't take them too seriously....but then there are the arsehole ones whose teasing/negging is underscored with a bad attitude and a lot of issues. There was a little core group of right wingers at my university who consciously cultivated an arrogant, offensive attitude. I don't recall them being popular/successful with women other than the odd twinset and pearls conservative club type.

I could never figure out what those guys expected to achieve with the attitude they gave out to women, beyond the cold shouldering response they got, so when Tucker Max and his message board stormed this board a while back, and I started reading their site, it was really illuminating. I think a person needs to have a lot of charm and a gift for comedy to make the offensive, arrogant approach seem funny rather than contrived and unpleasant.

My brother's best friend (RIP he died at a young age) was a bit of a Tucker Max type - but the happy-go-lucky variety rather than the "I'm an ******* - validate me for it!" type. I have to say, I absolutely adored him - but then, he was always very nice to me, plus he he was better looking than Tucker Max and his personality/approach was very spontaneous rather than being calculated.

A lot of men like hanging out with Tucker Max types because they find them fun...so I never understand why those same men are quick to judge as "low self esteem whores" women who also find them fun to be around.

I know a few guys like this who I consider to be really good friends. I think TMax is hilarious -- obviously a gigantic tool but his stories remind me a lot of my friend's stories. But no, I am not remotely attracted to these kind of guys.. probably why they've become my good friends. I can laugh with them and tell them that they're *******s and that's it. Apparently girls are good wingmen.

I've often wondered the same thing (what being a lady killa would be like). Getting strange tail every weekend could definitely be fun in a purely hedonistic way, but I can't see the logic in being able to truly embrace such a lifestyle. I'm more of a relationship guy, which obviously limits my choices, but I can't have it any other way. I simply wasn't raised to be able to see the opposite sex as a conquest.

I found the majority of Tucker's book revolting for some reason. I'm not a prude, but it painted a very ugly picture of not only the young dating scene, but also the general attitudes in which both the "men" and "women" viewed each other. While I'm sure some or all of his stories are embellished for the sake of entertainment, I could not relate to his stories. The whole "I'm a tough guy and I'm probably sleeping with or have slept with every one of your girlfriends" attitude that he and his cronies seem to seep makes me want to slit his throat. (Yes, I know that's not very nice or even sane sounding, but I'm trying to portray how that book made my blood boil here).

I'm having a difficult time believing that these stories are actually true. They seem like something a person would make up for entertainment purposes. I do find the stories amusing, but i'm also not taking them seriously.

Yes, I am really wishing these stories are just for entertainment. I having a hard time believing things like this actually happen.

It obviously works, excerpt from the movie, based on TM:

I'd go for the male bartender instead.:bunny:

They exist. I've encountered several guys like that in my life, they're not even THAT rare. But I think since guys hang out with other guys they have a much bigger chance of ever encountering such men and hearing about their adventures or even seeing them happen.

Haha, I wouldn't mind having male friends to hear these stories. The ones I have never share them with me. :-/

The only thing that actually pisses me off about this guy is that he is actually making money off of this. Damn him and the creater of the snuggy.

I've never experienced men acting this way before. It's all very... scripted, it seems like. Maybe i'm just extremely lucky that I haven't been unfortunate enough to have met such a character.

It is scripted, I imagine TM's interactions with people in real life, were the same. The movie just glorifies it, is all.
