Oh come on! You don't really think someone is an "idiot" because he/she designs integrated circuits or does a liver transplant instead of picking carrots or snaring rabbits, do you?

@Titania22

That last point leads on to what I was getting at with idiocracy. Think about it. Most men these days couldn't grow, or hunt food to save their own skins. Most women have no idea about gathering.

We go to a store where fresh vegtables and meat magically appear. One no longer needs to use their brain just to survive.

So what are we getting? More and more slow fat people who find things like this funny.

Hey I completely agree. Even at the other end of the tv spectrum, shows are being concelled all the time and being replaced by less intellectually stimulating shows. The choice seems to be "lower my standard and tune in" or decide the standard has dropped too much and "tune out". But the only reason this happens is because of ratings, which means the dumb masses go for the dumb shows.

Even when you find someone that seems quite intelligent and grounded, often they still believe what the media tells them without any critical thinking going on.

And in terms of mating, I hear all the time men telling men it's a numbers game, so the men who can get out there and seemingly impervious to rejection emotions are more likely to spread there seed. Also consider intelligent people will look at the upsides and downsides of procreating before jumping in, and most intelligent men are aware that making a baby will require them to pay 18yrs of child support. On the other hand, the dumb minimum income masses, probably don't think through the consequences of getting another girl pregnant, so obviously they pump out babies faster then the more economically viable of us.

Then there is the obvious continuing of the idiot proofing of everything in society. Heaven forbid you would get to make your own choice about your actions, without someone slapping you down in you make the "wrong" choice.

And we are all so removed from the food production. Put us in a forest or jungle and most of us would die. We wouldn't even know how to find fresh water, assuming that there are any sources of fresh water still around.

Anytime I'm tempted to be careless about birth control, I chant "25% of my income. 25% of my income."

It works for me.

OP, I can see that you subscribe to some serious humanities analytics. Ever heard of the Flynn Effect? Somehow I doubt it.
