zengirl Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 (edited) When I was there, I'd get about 10-15 new men per week messaging me with real messages (not random trolls or sex scams). And the last time I was on, my profile said I wasn't moving to the city I now live in/moved to for a few weeks. I met my now-BF on there and took it down before ever moving to this city. When I was actually last in a U.S. city (the numbers were way lower in Korea and Japan, when I lived abroad, as English speaking men are rarer; probably only 2-3 new guys per week with real messages), it was closer to 20 new guys per week in the first few weeks, at least. This all drops off if you're on for a long time. I never keep a profile up longer than 2 months. I then leave the site for AT LEAST 2 months, whether in a relationship or not, because I'm not interested in circling the same pond. And I always meet guys in real life too. How you use it matters a lot. I never messaged a guy who didn't message me back that I remember, though I remember at least two wrote me back to tell me they were not interested; I messaged my now-BF first, FWIW. If you stay on the site long-term, you show up in less feeds. Plus, there are less new guys to contact you. I always answered tons of questions/did tons of things to beef up my stats/complete my profile, so I'd be featured more the first week I put up a new profile. I always delete, never deactivate, because a new profile gets more views/feed shows than a re-activated one. I try to use the site mechanics to my benefit. Just my advertising background speaking. My roommate tried OKC, and by doing some of the things we tested, she got more messages/responses/views/feed features. Using the site's functionality to your advantage works, too.
